What did you do to your pig today?

my Girlfriend was Nice enough to donate her time to further the cause of my Piggy resto. 5 hours with a grinder in 100+ degrees weather and 1/2 my roof is now rust free :) .

Ha! You better put a ring on one of her fingers pretty soon. Not going to find too many women like that...

Actually did a little cleanup work on the "spare" '76 pig. Started to get it ready for sale. Most complete and unmolested one of the five I've owned. It's been sitting since 2000. Will get the title into my name this week.

Gave her the pre summer bath and added the tow brackets to yank her around behind the motor home. 30 days and counting until FREEDOM!

Wasn't planning on dropping the rear drive shaft just figured trans, transfer case, in neutral and hubs unlocked.

If someone has some experience that the drive shaft should be dropped let me know. Thanks.

Better than looking good, she runs great!

I was doing aiming research a while back and the consensus was to pull the shaft.

I believe so. Sounds like it boils down to 2 reasons; 1) t-cases have exploded while flat towed in N, and 2) keeps the t-case internals from being spun over those miles...

EEEEKs

Stumbled into a debate with more sides that the chicken and egg debate!!! :frown: Further reseach clearly shows that nothing is clear! So for now the research will switch from can you / should you, Agree with just in case safety, ----- but??? New research will be focused on how much for an easy way to drop the rear drive shaft and reconnect it when its 100+ degrees and pavement is 140 degrees, in snow, mud, and rain, day and night. I don't mind gettin under her on my time, but if towing, --- too many times I'd have to get under her on a NOW need basis. Don't want to add too much complexity, or a weak link. Pigs are pretty reliable just the way they ship them over - so i try and stay pretty close to "original" -

Ideas guy? Thanks!
