What did you do on your 70 series today?

Today I took out the heater/aircon assembly. Then I wanted to remove the internal firewall and underdash sound deadening but in order to do so I had to remove all the pedal assemblys and steering column.

There is not much left now, just the wiring. I might as well take that out too as it will be in the way for the repairs.

Once the wiring is gone, i'll remove the gas (propane/lpg tank so it is safe for welding/grinding. The propane/lpg tank will not be refitted, it will just be petrol only.

What’s the specs on on your 70 series? I see brown interior so I assume a 90s era truck? 1fz or 3f?

Got new water pump and t-stat in. I ended up getting the power steering pump bracket loose and the t-stat and water outlet housing too. New gaskets were needed. I bought one new Toyota hose (the bypass) and cut some standard Gates hose as required.

Put in the 2 new main radiator hoses from Toyota. Pressed a new Koyo bearing into the power steering idler. Bought an aftermarket bearing and pulley from Rock Auto for the ac idler. 3d printed as nozzle for the MIG so I can pump argon into containers of expensive paint to slow the aging process while can sits on shelf.

I patted mine on the hood and told it "soon, soon the salt will be gone " . Started it and warmed it up a couple of days a go. It will get new hoses this year . It is time, 15 years on the ones in there.

Gear shifter bushes in mine, was surprised at how much crap was under the carpet, then more destruction on one of the work V8’s I feel driving thru a very large hole may have resulted in most of the damage it’s all starting to add together 🤔 I thought the broken fan blades were strange but now add broken fan shroud steering wheel knocked a 1/3 of a turn out and now I’ve found this a smashed steering knuckle 😑

Drove it to the dismal local hill for some vitamin D...man this has been a s***ty winter. Hope February brings some lower temps and snow.

Note the sea of funk in the background, no sun in the valley for the past week :yuck:.

It was not taken at sunrise or sunset so it will be somewhat lacking by @FJBen standards but here you go.

Truck is running again after a month of slow repair. I put a generic intake hose in place of the factory rubber one that was toast. Needed a vacuum connection to actuate engine shutdown so I repurposed the currently-inactive egr port on the intake elbow. 3d printed an adapter plug and glued a steel hose nipple into it. I thought switching to vacuum hoses of various colors would help me keep track and trace, but the red looks like hell.

Installed a new fuel sender. Discovered the 5 mounting holes are not equally spaced. 2 are farther apart than the others. It blew my mind for several seconds.

New bumper setup. The real news is that it was locally made here in Panama by Rudo4x4. They've got a modern, neatly organized production facility and can do anything from boat trailers to shelves or pickup trays. Needless to say, it saves a helluva lot of money on shipping from Australia, S. Africa, or the U.S. Nicely put together unit and works well. We'll see after a few years if it holds up. Note: my old Dobinson's bumper was a huge disappointment, began disintegrating from the moment I got it.
