Really discontinued? 3B unit but not 1hz?

Hmmnnnnn.....

Cheers

Yes, really. At least this one. 29300-56070.

I did not see the injection pump in the photo. I thought you were referring to the vacuum pump as it is behind the alternator.:hillbilly:

In any event don't drop it....:)

As far as the injection pump is concerned you could take it to a local, set it in front of him and see if he starts to twitch.

I sent my supercharger off for overhaul and I insured the hell out of it.

Yeah I wasn't very clear in my description :)

I found a shop that bench tests/sets timing for around $3~400. A full rebuild would cost $1700 he thought. Is that the going rate or is he way high?

The shop I shipped my injectors to said a couple of hundred to bench test as well so that seems like a normal cost, not sure how much a full rebuild would be through them. I do however trust this shop as they communicated well with me, and said if the nozzles checked good, there is no reason to replace them. $150 for all injectors cleaned/checked/set/shipped seems pretty fair to me. The could have easily made me buy new nozzles and I've had been none the wiser.

Just shipping that pump...oy.

I recall injector pump overhauls going for 1,500 to 2,000 bucks. A lot of coin but you have to pay to play.

Even more so when it comes to unique hobby engines like Toyota diesels in the US.

I was quoted $600 for a 1PZ injection pump rebuild by a local shop before it was considered FUBAR after they completed the internal inspection.

The cost to have a rebuilt 1PZ injection pump in my hands at that point went up to over $3,000 from Dave Stedman in Japan.

@lazylfarm ..... "In other news, how do people feel about shipping an injection pump off? It makes me nervous to say the least to ship that expensive pump off for it to get broken, or worse lost. Living in the middle of nowhere farm country, options are limited."

Odd Iron Off Road receives injection pumps from all over the country without issue if that makes you feel better about shipping.

Talking about the 2H injector pump ( linear pump so basically the same ), those are not easy to break .. it can be done with abuse for sure. Lost can be another story.

Yeah I get that, but the injector pump shouldn't be that expensive because it's a Toyota diesel. Denso IP's can be serviced/parts by a lot of places. It must be all in the labor costs on tearing them apart.

Ouch.

I just had my pump rebuilt. It was $1100

I'm proud to report that @c2dfj45 's hood struts are installed and functioning properly on a wide nose Ute.

I normally like "old school" but not having to prop the hood open with the rod is kinda cool. :)

I show a lot of clients under the hood of my 79.....nice not to have to fumble with the prop rod. Really nice if you've got tools or something in your hand. One handed opening.....what a concept!

If I have anything in my hands it most likely won't be tools.

@stayalert stopped by to drop off his BJ74 for some long overdue mechanical operations. :)

This truck originally belonged to @ducatiman81211 (Mike Pierson) who was my client at American Toyota when I worked with CDan and before @stayalert purchased it.

Original For Sale thread on MUD back from 2010: For Sale - 1987 bj 74

Great story: I first met Rob 7 years ago when he flew into ABQ to pick this truck up from Mike Pierson. Rob grabbed the truck and stayed with me in Corrales for a night before the long trip back to Vermont. @cruiserdan stopped by too and Rob remembers hearing CDan's Challenger all the way down the road before he turned into my driveway. My old good friend @Daisy 53 was around too...

Some pics of when I first met Rob back in 2012:

Anyway, Rob's 74 is going to be here for awhile have some mechanical spa action.

Safe travels back to VT Rob. Great to see you again and catch-up!

Nice lineup there Beno! Hopefully the zoning officer doesn't fuss at you for running a Toyota dealership in your driveway!

Pretty sure I saw that Bj74 sitting at performance unlimited in August last year.

Super stoked!! Woot!

Nice! You spent a long time piecing that cruiser back together and it looks so good now.
