My wife told me the same thing!!
Was she talking about my garage??

I’ve never heard that from her… ;)

Most likely because I’ve never met your wife...

What size is the pole building?

Love the Amish guy free climbing down the framing. That's how they do it!

Busy Saturday, had several club members visit during the course of the day. Eric O, Bill Mihalik, and Stosh to be precise. Also had a visit from 40 owner and friend Ben Delp, he picked up the 35" General Grabbers that I took off the 81 on Friday. Yes it now is running a sweet set of Toyos, went to 33" tires (285/75). Like them a lot better than the Generals and they'll have a MUCH stronger sidewall for our trip to Colorado in September.

Sent a lot of parts to new homes yesterday, in addition to the tires Ben took, FJ60 hood, valance, and front fenders, transmission and transfer case, a 3.70 third member, a 4.10 third member, a steering column and lots of smaller items. Made some room in the garage!

Have a complete 2 1/2" old man Emu suspension setup ready to go on the 81, gonna tackle that later this week. Right now the only lift it has are a set of 1" Manafre coil spacers. Looking forward to the good ride and handling afforded by the OME setup.

And Aaron- my garage is 24x28', not tall like yours but it has been extremely useful since we built it in 1986. It has a full second floor which is awesome, too. Only regret is it should have been bigger and I've regretted thousands of times not being able to have a lift. Lotta work has been accomplished in that garage over the years!

Busy Saturday, snip...

I scaled this back from 1000 ft² to the 670ft² it is today.
Was planning 16' ceiling, but that would be way out of proportion with my property.

I'm a little overwhelmed with it's scale as it is, but psyched to get all my stuff this close to home. (Tools, tire machine, compressor, bikes, work benches, Trekker project...)

I think it will accommodate a four post lift with my truck on top, but only just...

Good luck with the lift for the 81, post some before and after with the new sneakers!

If you plan on ever having a lift, make SURE to have the concrete poured deep enough wherever you think you might install it. My $1800 lift ended up costing me something like $4500 due to the inadequate floor in my shop. There is a spec for depth but I don't recall what it is.

$1800 is cheep!
I'm going four post lift in here, should be fine. Worked out to about 5"
Last night two buddies and I learned to be contractors and laid about 700' of hydronic PEX on top of 1.5" of pink foam insulation. 250 zip ties to the wire mesh, my back is done!

This morning the concrete went down.

Measuring driveshaft angles and offsets:

Should be good at full droop, but I only have about another 2" to "droop" before the driveshaft binds...so I might preemptivly grind the driveshaft yokes to gain some flex...

Planning out radiator mounts (has to
go down 3" - which will hit my steering shaft...so I'll be cutting and boxing the radiator cradle on the driver's side...

And prepping the transmission hump for surgery:

The little oscillating tool made short work of the tar heat/sound deadening...long way to go before I can start patching up the holes...

Aaron - out of curiosity, did you measure the location of the radiant lines in the floor? I made that mistake in a previous floor and had to "roll the dice" when we had to drill for the anchor bolts on the lift base plates. Looks like you got some good pictures at least. Garage looks great BTW.

Big day today, did some work to the hundred for the first time in a few months. Replaced the driver door that I bashed into a rock during the Vermont overland trophy, took her to the car wash and installed a new Odyssey auxiliary battery.

Also thought I spotted the great Gary driving down Route 30 in his 40 but it must've been another club member in a similar truck.

Nope, but may next time, good thinking.
I just hope we get through the saw cuts they are make tomorrow.
I don't plan to actually bolt the four post lift down, I like the idea of dragging it outside every once and a while, casters sold separately.
