Decided to work on the Lexus a little bit, and see whats going on in the engine:

I now do not believe that it needs a water pump and that the previous owner who "did the work himself" just didn't fill and bleed the system right. I myself just found out how to do it but would have never know until I research its, I am not very familiar with this 4.0L however once this project is 'done' I will know it as well as I do the other engines in my fleet.

Also this was fun, I wanted to check the spark plugs, the previous owner didn't seat the plug wires all the way in the tues and Cyl# 2 & 6 were stuck:

Also last weekend before I headed up to my cousins wedding my stepdad needed help with his rear shocks on his 3rd gen. When I put our stock silver one in the air to take pictures to give him a visual guide, I found I too was in the same boat:

Then got extremely pissed off:

But was able to give it a 'stock' lift:

The early 99ish to early 00ish 3rd gen 4Runners were the tallest of the bunch sitting 2" higher then the 01-02 and 1" taller then the 96-98 3rd gens. Ours was a late 00ish that looks to sit like the 96-98 and at this point the springs were so weak it was just resting on the bump stops. Truck feels brand new.

I'm working on thinking about working on my truck.

GSMTR is right around the corner...

Took a little trip today and wound up with these bad boys. Little more rust than I'd like. What do you guys think ? Sandblast then paint?

Yup

Doing some pretty serious work to the truck: added new headlights, got rid of the chrome front grill and added a matte black hood decal to cover up some faded
clear coat.

All ready to head up to the state forest this weekend with the camper.

I finally found an electric locking rear axle today - just in time for CMCC!

Had to buy a truck to get it...

Awesome find! Any idea on the gear ratio? Not as familiar with these, on the 3rd Generation 4Runners with the locker, they all came with 4.30 gears.

Plenty of good part out parts on there if it still runs!

Code on the door says 4.10. Hoping it is true or I'll be swapping both diffs!

Finally diving into this little project. Old leather wasn't bad but wanted seat heaters and thought "if I'm in there, might as well." Hoping this doesn't take me forever.

Ouch, I still have memories of sore fingers from doing the leather on my front seats two winters ago.

I gave up on using the hog rings and ordered high-quality zip ties. They've held up very well and made my life much easier!

Nice!

Where is a good place to get leather these days? I got mine from aatlas a long time ago - before he went awol.

I bought a set of hog ring pliers - don't recall it being bad at all.

I still have the 2nd row in a box on the basement. Wanted to wait till the kids were out of car seats.

Wishing I was working on the truck - but due to poor grading and some overzealous downspouts, I am getting water in my basement. So I spent the weekend directing all the water away from my house...350ft away...

Not one of the wisest decisions I ever made...I did get to play with a giant dirt chainsaw though...not as fun as it sounds...there are massive boulders in my yard and the ditch witch threw the (200lb) chain twice.

I will be super excited to get these pipes buried and forget this ever happened. SOON I'll be back to the 40.

I'm about 60-70% done. One more run of pipe to level, then gluing pipe and backfilling.
