Started the teardown on the less complete one
Rusty and crusty. Broke a brake disc hammering it off the rusty shaft

Eventually I should also tear mine apart... It's working as is... so for the time being I'll stick to replacing the wiring that has cracking insulation.

First I need to replace the floor underneath the passenger and drivers feet. It has reached a point where the holes there are getting bigger than the metal that's left.
🤷‍♂️

Is it the photo angle or is the drum bent?
Funky camera effect.

Hit the first gotcha.
Intermediate gear internal splines are fubar.

Going to keep cleaning and inspecting, make a shopping/price list and see where I'm at.

Also tear down the other one and do the same and see if I can make one good one from what I have at least.

You can always just have the cracked housing welded up.

Love the 250’s, love the 8274’s AND LOVE Cracker Barrel.👍🍔👍

A bit off topic but @gnob when I lived in Yreka & traveled to Medford (Costco etc) on weekends, we would always stop & dine @ the local Cracker Barrel. Really excellent.👍

Oh, I really like my 8274.😊

Unexpected find at the junkyard. Anyone have a spare endhouse? The existing one was cracked from accident and trying to avoid a pristine new one….

I have one. I replaced it because it's got little cracked fins near the mounting holes. Looks like the winch cable bound up and abraded the aluminum. I can PM you photos if you like.

Scored this one today off marketplace for $280. It’s complete minus the mounting foot that goes on the end of the drum, came with the controller too. My plan is to rebuild it for my Pig when the time comes. I haven’t checked the date code yet. This makes the 3rd 8274 in my arsenal.
