So Chuck you prefer a Nanny State....... why doesn't that surprise me

First you support a law against texting but a law against wearing a seatbelt which you didn't even have up until a few years ago is making us a nanny state. Make up your mind mr vision of safety in america.

And I have plenty of ammunition. Way more than a 30 round clip so fire away.

Your one to talk mr safety.

Never claimed to to be Mr. Safety, likely the opposite as I have been known to take a few risks :D but usually not at the expense of others

I love it. Shall I post all the pictures you have sent me of you following your dad down the road?

I'll agree texting while driving is bad. It's a bad habit for me.

Sure I'd love you to, and what you will notice in the pics is the lack of anyone else on the road but me and my father... I waited until the roads were clear to take those pics thank you very much.

Plus in my rant I never said I was perfect that I had never ever, ever, ever texted while driving, we all make mistake myself included:hillbilly: but I certainly don't hold a candle to you sir! You have whole conversations via text while driving crowded greenville highways and at times with your children in the the car for pete's sakes. So how you have the never to even call me out for a picture taken on a empty country road when you are a much more egregious offender is beyond me

If you can't distinguish the difference between the two there really isn't much hope for you. As there is a HUGE difference between my decision to not wear a seatbelt and put only myself at danger vs. deciding to text while driving and putting innocent people around me in danger. The government is compelled to protect its citizens from the stupidity of others but not from their own.

Bring on your ammunition they've all been duds so far:flipoff2: this was good fun :hillbilly:

PS added the pics to save you the time...

LOL nah I am just having fun with troll, he likes it this way:grinpimp:

Don't worry I just poked the bear... his response will likely be rambling, illogical, and epic

actions done behind the wheel that endanger others = fine

a seat belt fine...that's just a scheme to make money, seriously...might as well fine people who smoke or bungee jump. It's their choice, if it's not putting anyone else in harms way it completely goes against all moral judgement to fine them for it.

If Bill Batterson of Newark, Minnesota wants to smoke crack in his doomsday bunker all day on Saturday and then drive to work back and forth with no seat belt Monday thru Friday is he really hurting the rest of us? Should we worry that some how his poor decisions are going to cause this great nation of ours to crash and burn? Is he going to ruin our retirement plans and cause our children nightmares?

Seriously...the government is well out of hand. The whole world would revolve much more smoothly if everyone worried about themselves rather than everyone else. The onc single thing that is going to/has already been ruining this country is the government.

Now I'm going to have a snickers and watch some hockey highlights.

I installed an app on my blackberry that prevents texts from coming in or being sent while over 15 mph :P

Safetexting AR

Just don't read 'em or send 'em if you are driving. Easy breezy.

I'm thinking about it from a Communications/IT Manager perspective. We've got nearly 70 cellphones in our company that I manage. And the few that hold CDL's can actually get prosecuted if proven they were texting or phoning (non hands free) while driving.

From a commercial stand point it could be a good idea. From a personal stand point I say just don't look at your phone. People need to have a little self control. In business though what one bone head does can screw the entire company so I see the utility there.

With the data a research out there texting is worse than a drunk driver...and that may be because there are more texting and driving vs. drunk drivers. This app sounds good and if you have kids that drlve I would have it installed..I know some car companies were lookin at something along the lines of the car wouldn't operate with the cell phone on or if it wasn't in. docking station in the car or something like that...kinda like the breathalyzer in some cars

You can have the provider shut off texting to a commercial phone account as well.

Hey Dan, does it actually prevent texts or does it just tell you not to text, I read the reviews and someone posted up that it only tells you not to text and drive...I'm lookin at sending this to my corporate office so I wanna be sure it's good.

yeah, so it detects if you are above 15 mph and auto responds that you are driving and cant get the text or reply. Doesn't stop them or anything. You can safely ignore them knowing they are aware you are moving and that they know you will get back to them.
