Nope I don't keep track of the total spend however it was expensive. I paid $300 for a brand new OEM center console, $350 for floor mats, $300 for the black pearl rear name plate, full Expel paint protection film body wrap was $4k, HID quad retrofit was $1k, etc.....
Not even including all the work Slee did ( front and rear lockers, re-gearing, all new bushings, winch, armor, etc.....)
Plus the body and paint work, everything in the interior is new, all the glass, weather strips, runs, bulbs, trim, seat foams, leather, carpet, sound deadening, door panels, headliner, etc...all brand new....
I went all out so it wasn't cheap.
I am sure someone here will offer $5k for it though
Just teasing you about the intended use of your 80. I wouldn't mind spending this much money or even more on an 80. Your money imo, was well spent. Not only you have one of the best looking and quality built 80, but also one that you will be proud off. One more thing, try to get it dirty/muddy once in a while. ;)

Thanks my friends! I appreciate the comments.

I drive my 40th daily and enjoy every minute. I must admit that mine is not "stock". With the new seats (with heaters), radio w/Bluetooth, supercharger, and all sorts of little improvements, to me it is a perfect vehicle. I see clients purchasing $70k new SUV's and I truly would rather have my 80, and I know that I have much less $$$ in it.

My point is that Citadel took it to a much higher level of perfection here; however, likely does not have that $70k investment either.

I am just now finding this thread but read the entire thing. If you understand the definition of envy and jealousy...I feel no shame in saying I am JEALOUS!! Great work! I have one question though....thoughts on your sound deadening? And what about the lights? Can we see pics of cutoff lines and do you like the set up?

@drowssap ...Sound deadening has really helped the noise.
Here is the low beam cutoff of the HIDs after install. Still need to adjust them.

It is an early Christmas. Guess what a Mud Member procured for me... a brand new black pearl 40th Anniversary liftgate nameplate.
The only one left in the US! This is the last 40th specific item needed for my restoration!View attachment 1137521

Hi I was just looking at this, where did you get that plate, Do you know where I can get one with Red letters instead and do if you dont mind what was the price

This is absolutely gorgeous! I envy you sir, not only your rig, but your taste as well as the drive you have demonstrated to breath new life into a soon to be classic! Awesome, simply awesome...

Wow just read the entire thread... I do see the value vs buying a new 70K truck... if it's what you like... it will never be about ROI...
btw i fixed drivers side mirror on mine last nite with a bolt and nuts I had... 20 min and O$$ ... you have to start somewhere :)

Not sure what you mean by "red letters". Can you clarify? Did Toyota make a nameplate with red letters?

No I dont think toyota did red letters, Im just asking if this was custom, and if they can do it in red letters

I'm kalling Katskinz tomorrow! I've got to get my seats done! Do you remember how much the seat resto cost? Anyone know a good shop in the Sacramento area?

@citadel Early in the thread, you showed some swanky retro fender badges. Care to share where those came from?

I think I got the badges on eBay... they are OEM from an FJ40

Sorry for the confusion, I just wanted to know if someone can make the emblem that is in the rear door that it said Land Cruiser with red letters inatead of white.

Thank you

This whole sound mat stuff is interesting.

Back in 1993 when 4Wheeler Magazine tested the then brand new FZJ80 it was the quietest vehicle they had ever tested. I do not remember the specific number but the cruising speed number was something like 70 db.

That is a pretty impressive number. My Audi measures about 70-75db at 70mph.

On my 80 while driving on the highway at 70mph my Decibel app on my phone gives me a range of 89-95 decibels.
That is with Goodyear MTR tires, a full length Baja Rack & Flowmaster muffler and silencer.

It would be nice to see what this Sound Deadner Showdown does to reduce my dB numbers.
