Sorry for your troubles and thanks for your service. I started down the VA road to look into a possible service/combat related issue, but didn't have the stomach for the bureaucracy. Pretty sure I have been purged from their system now.

Without getting too political, the VA is just another government function only interested in their budget, and the "charities" that claim to help are either leaches or accomplices. I was told that a scar I got while in could count towards my disability rating, it didn't matter that the scar came from mountain biking and had zero impact on my daily function.

Super sad and horrible, David. As a "veteran" only having served 4 years, and avoiding the VA since, I find this treatment WRONG, so WRONG.

I have a friend who was refused life-saving treatment. He was "good enough" to be a test rat while testing the new cancer medicine that allows your body to fight cancer cells. The SECOND it is commercially approved, he is taken off and told he has to pay $1M+ for treatment from a non-VA hospital. HORRIBLE

I went to Fort Bragg last week. First time on a military base/post in years. Felt that feeling of "people taking care of people." I MISSED the military and felt at home again. Too bad this isn't something that follows us as we leave/retire/serve as civilians, etc :(

I wish you all the best in this - not sure what I can do other than to continue to vote for people who support military members and not just big defense.

So sorry to hear that David. it may be time to send more correspondence to Mr Tillis, and any other elected official you can. might as well contact fox 8 too, and see if they can do a Buckley Report segment on VA issues. sadly, I'm sure you're not the only one going thru this crap.

My mom was a nurse. My dad was career Army. They made damn sure that, upon his retirement, we never dealt with another military hospital. He has refused to contact the VA for anything, including his ‘Agent Orange”-related issues. The funny thing is his undying respect and faith in his current team of doctors who were almost all military trained. Granted, he also has the mindset that he accepted death, or anything else, before he volunteered to go to Vietnam the first of two times, so he places zero blame on anybody or entity for his issues stemming from the AO exposure. Hence, he doesn’t even want to get evaluated there for an AO claim.

I think I know only one Vietnam vet who regularly uses the VA. He hates it, and he is going to die because of them. That is fact. The civilian docs he’s seen says he doesn’t have to but the obstacles placed in the way by Govco are unbendable dictates, while the obstacles from the civilians are $$$$. Universal healthcare sounds like the perfect answer, eh? Rhetorical question there; we don’t need to argue that.

UPS signature required deliveries. Theyre worse than waiting on time warner.

Tracking info says delivery 1/2/19 by end of day so i was prepared to be around wednesday.

Yet 1st attempt last night at 7:30 ?!? Will try again by end of next delivery day. Wont let me E sign for release.

I suppose im to wait around not all day but evidently all day for 5-6 days. Best part was customer service just transferred me to tech service and they tranferred me right back.

UPS drivers, some of them, are the “kids that used to ring your doorbell then ran away”, now grown up. I work from home, most days. My office is at the top of the stairs, I hear the doorbell, jump up and run down the stairs and the fooker is gone, truck is pulling out. They are fast.

UPS: When they get behind, they will skip people and say they tried delivery. :(

Post office actually stated we were unavailable to accept the package for two days during the snowstorm. I b like: just say you don't want to deliver it - its too cold, too much snow - just man up. Don't go cryin to Amazon about us being unavailable when I got my arse out there and shoveled the damn sid3walk and it was MF perfect, bishes!!

I'll say this...FAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR fewer delivery issues this fall/winter, both at home and in VA, with any of the carriers. Last years big losers were DHL and Laser**** (Amazon contract). They'd just put packages by the street at the top of the driveway, or on the hood or roof of a vehicle...whenever they got around to swinging by, regardless of how long after the reported delivery was. Pretty sure they'd label everything 'delivered' when they loaded the truck in the morning.

I got an Amazon delivery today, 5 minutes before it arrived, thet said it was 2 stops away. Heard the doorbell, went to answer, he was getting in the truck,. 2 minutes later, I got a picture of the package on my front porch....I really like Amazon...

Freaking fireworks are going to make it a long night for our dog. hes been in the closet since 8, and is already on pill #2. every now n then we will hear a scared bark/Yelp or three, then somewhat quiet until another artillery barrage repeats the process....

I like to let the dogs out at 6 am and let them bark their heads off all morning, wake the firecracker mutherfookers up. And while on rant mode, what the hell are we celebrating? That the rock we live in followed a gravitational elliptical orbit and went around the sun again, like it has for billions of years (or 4,000 years for some), and we didn’t totally destroyed it yet killing everything on it because we are a self absorbed over developed hairless monkey race with iPhones? That the Gregorian calendar changed years, again, and we are surprised? It’s all man made hoop dee doo so that we spend more money. It’s idiotic, infantile, stupid.

Oh, hey, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Don’t eat the leftover food you forgot on the counter, the cat probably got into it.

The fireworks had the horses running all night too. I wanted to fire back but there are laws against such things. I don't have any fire works.

Izzy, what are you talking about?
Everyone knows it’s not any kind of rock, but a flat plane, and you idea that we have circled the sun is laughable. We have known for all 4000 years, since the time of the dinosaurs in fact, that the sun goes around the Earth.
FACTS.
SCIENCE.

When I say, "You know, every day is the beginning of another new year, we just dont hang a new calendar on the wall," I enjoy the feigned laugh responses. I have almst become this guy.

TLC network. Sheesh, the only learning being done on that network is that society is breeding a serious number of stupid people.
Let's take a look at some fine programming

90 day fiance. lets take a group of American citizen morons, and let them try to get married to a foreigner theyve never physically met. what could possibly go wrong???

Dr Pimple Popper. this lady is a sweet dr, and spends each episode lancing, poking, and draining wierd stuff people have growing out of them. this is the highlight of their lineup.

My 600lb life: they follow morbidly obese people through treatment. some do well, some dont.

Family by the ton: its amazing that they now have an entire family being profiled (4 of them total up to a ton, an actual ton)

Return to Amish: let's combine amish and mennonites with any MTV show. Get them drunk, scantily clad, and in places they shouldnt be.

My big fat gypsy wedding: holy cow this is a freaking train wreck. The number of sociological studies that could be done from this one is staggering.

Unexpected: people are surprised to find out that they are pregnant. some dont even know how it happened.....

And the icing on the cake: My Big Fat Fabulous.Lofr. this nugget of a show features a totally self absorbed very large woman in her mid 30s, that acts like a 5 year old. She is such an obnoxious person. This show is filmed here on Greensboro, and her, her parents, and every place they film is within 15 mins of my home and office. this heifer about rear ended me when I was driving home from getting food. she came flying up on me, with her phone in one hand, donut in the other, and camera crew in the car. if it would have been my 80, I would have nailed my brakes. she had her priorities, out down her phone (not her donut), gave me the finger and then cut someone else off by passing me on the right. I got another 1 finger wave from her as she slammed the donut in her mouth, and then ut in front of me, slammed on her brakes, and made a left turn. if I wasnt needing to get home, i would have turned and given her production team some footage...

cut the cable. you wont miss anything.
He gets a smoking deal on DirectTV. When I say smoking, I mean $10ish/month for pretty much all the channels, including the NFL package. Cutting that cord will be a hard sell for Mr. Zero. I agree though that there's not much on there worth watching. Our TV consists of American Pickers, Barnwood Builders, Curse of Oak Island, Ancient Aliens, Leah Reminy's Scientology and Andy Griffith. That's pretty much it. TLC is a skip-over channel for me. Never watch. Total BS I don't care about whatsoever.

@roadstr6 ,

I ditched the directv last month when fiber became avail. 1000mb interwebbers, middle 300 channel package with whole house dvr/wired receiver, two wireless receivers, and voip phone. The cost was pretty much a wash to ditch directv, the 6mb dsl, and home phone service off the dsl. On my phone, i get 450mb down, and 430 up, so I'm a happy camper.

My wife had TLC on to listen to (sort of watch, after her 3 eye surgeries), and with me serving as Gaylord Focker, male nurse, I was subjected to all of that stuff playing almost nonstop.

Way to take one for the team, Focker. I live outside of AT&T territory so I'll be keeping the DirectTV and I will continue to skip over TLC.
