Intended or not, I think you may have hit a nail on the head with that statement. By virtue of your geographic location and the requirements to live there, people are a bit more self-reliant. Learning to be so teaches thought processes and risk/consequence evaluation which becomes fairly ingrained into daily behavior. When help is needed, it comes from friends and family...prompting consideration of actions and avoiding relationship "infractions". The ability to access any and all services nearly instantly simply in exchange for $$$, and anonymity within dense populations doesn't produce these reinforcers as readily. The percentage of people that are absolutely clueless have no social or environmental controls in place to extinguish the behavior...and that's how we end up with a "rant" thread.I experience exactly none of the above where I live.
Perhaps you require a change of geography that might suit your life requirements.
I do not live in or near a city for a reason and I own enough land around me to at least keep them at bay till I'm gone.
