Yeah, I get that there are plenty of bumper vendors who may/may not have a good product, and I respect Dissents work and have recommended his product to others. For moi, one of my neighbors here in Tx has a TJM on an 80 series. And guess what? It works and still looks good. pushing 25 years old at least.
If I decide that a head on collision with a rhino or face plant on a trail into solid rock is a risk I'm taking, I'll take a deeper look at welding. But as others mention, this was an upgrade over a factor bumper that was little more than paper. My rig goes long distances at a time, not short distances on horrid terrain. My primary goals was to strengthen lightly and provide a place to hang the christmas lights without adding more tonnage and tipping the scales.
If you are looking at this from a cost/functional value framework, thee TJM is hard to beat.
