You don’t have one or want on then stfu.

Seemed to me that the discussion was supposed to include pros and cons of the T17 so that prospective buyers could make up their own minds. I raised the point about sourcing because I think it's an important consideration in making buying decisions. You apparently don't agree - that's your prerogative. But telling people who want to discuss all aspects of a significant purchase to shut up doesn't improve the overall quality of information on Mud.

You all got way off topic. Nuff said

No... we didn't. Much of the discussion was about small companies developing components specifically for the 100 Series - not adapting existing components to the 100-Series, and that if we supported these vendors, we should expect more of the same. That these guys are U.S. based is a smaller part of the discussion.

Also, comparing Toyota to a Chinese contract manufacturer is stretch.

For the record I was trying to say to the people comparing this TJM to Dissent (or slee, Kavik, bior, trail tailor) is irrellevant bc they are not comparable. Entry price is very different for a reason.

Its nice there are options at different price points. You get what you pay for.........

Question to those that have gotten the TJM. Have you bought the winch plate? Have you used a winch on it? Any issues with the bumper and using a winch? There were some comments earlier in the thread saying that they wouldn’t use a winch on this particular bumper....but those comments came from people that don’t own the bumper. I am not looking for speculation or what someone ‘thinks’, but real life usage information. If you have used a winch on it please say what winch and what the scenario was to help the rest of us out!! Thanks!!

Can anyone confirm that the TJM T17 is direct bolt on with no modifications necessary?

The TJM Winch Plate is the only one that will work. It attaches to the factory tow hook mounts plus the frame mounts for the bumper. Plenty strong to winch from.

It is a direct bolt on. On the later 100's (not sure about year break) and LX470's there needs to be minor sheet metal trimming under headlights. Pictures earlier in this thread.

Has anyone run a smittybilt xrc winch with this bumper?
I have the Smittybilt X2O 10k syn in mine. If you're asking about fit, they are roughly the same size and it fits fine with enough room to get my hands all around it.

how are these not square? maybe they aren't suppose to be. The amount of metal removal is significant. I'd return it if I could. I have the benefit of an accident behind me. So MAybe it doesn't matter. I'd not install or buy again. Not for the mid 2005 plus.
Again though, maybe the box stand offs aren't suppose to be square. IDK

weird ass bumper my friends. I would not put this one a 2005+ too much material removal from the crossmember, which also stabilizes the fender stand offs and headlight mounts. Also if set to optimal height you will not be able to front load your lower headlight tab bolt, silly if you ask me. Reverse load lower headlight bolts with a nut on the front side. This wasn't thought through I don't think. Good In a pinch, that's about it.
