Working through some of my issues taking a truck that had been dead for 12 years and only had 300 total miles since refurb 800 miles......

One of the odd things it was doing.

Truck was not getting hot. Temp gauge is pretty accurate. Never saw it waver. Pop hood. No hissing. Did not have my IR with me but I can tell. I even opened the cap once after driving it and no pressure or problem.

Fluid was pumping out of the radiator into the overflow and blowing the cap off.

In fact. Cap is gone. The overflow bottle and cap were new @Racer65 units.

Thoughts on why? I thought if it was hot it sucked the fluid out of the overflow.

I added about a gallon over the 800 miles

Sounds like your radiator cap is not building any pressure in the radiator, just letting pressure out to the overflow.

Only when the coolant in the block and radiator cool off does the excess coolant get sucked out of overflow.

Try replacing radiator cap.

Maybe still an air pocket and it's going to the overflow, strange.

It is strange. I drove it a lot in the MS heat. Never did it. Just not long trips like this last week.

@PabloCruise Great idea.

Added a beautiful hand rebuilt Denso via Mosley Motors @FJ60Cam to the Warthog today to replace the belt eating offset Honda that was on there.

Drove it down to Lou’s to weld my FJ45 seat leg I snapped off and he welded up my perches from the lift.

I have had a late model 2F at the local machine shop for over a year. He’s had some personal issues and it got tabled.

After my horsepower free trip to Alabama I decided to go repo the motor and take it to @FJ60Cam at Mosley Motors for a hotrod 2F build.

I got it home and got it cleaned up. Motor spins. Top looked good. Nothing bent.

There’s a rubber plug in one freeze plug and a rusted out hole in another.

Hopefully nothing critical.

I fired up the crystal ball...

It’s kinda blurry, but an image is starting to come through...

Nice. What did that one come out of?

Nice. What did that one come out of?

I bought it to put in my blue 60 but a rebuild was available so it’s been sitting at the machine shop for 15 months.

I repo’ed it today.

I want to be notified of the wngrog estate sale........ Hopefully in 5 decades - some of your cruisers are worth the wait for a 25 year old like me

Excited to follow another @wngrog project. Hotty Toddy

I rode up to have lunch with @FJ60Cam about the motor build and to feel first hand what his fabled “hot rod 2F” would do.

I have a nice fresh 2F in my FJ40 and driving (and racing) them would give me an idea of what I might be able to gain for the Warthog.

This is the drag race that sold me on the Mosley Motors hot rod build

Got a nice quiet muffler installed. I broke the seals on the old one when I was pushing the exhaust out of the way during the OME lift.

I’ve got a brutal leak. Surely it’s the oil pan and not the rear main. Either way it’s there until it all comes out

I also tested my block to see if gasses were causing the fluid to push out. Block tested good.

I talked to @beno about the Hot Rod 2F internals today.

Maybe it’s also missing a thermostat (and not getting hot)?

Show Dick some respect.

You think I would not run a thermostat? You are the one that left my alternator unplugged .......

I guess the cap. Got a new one on the shelf but the one on the truck is basically new. Both OEM
