What happened to the rubber bumper on that rear bump stop?

I've been toying with the idea of replacing my OME L's because they are stiff and beat up.

Last night I settled on Dobinson Yellows, then today I found the vendor thread on the IMS shocks. Really shouldn't spend that money buuuuuut it seems like a good investment. I'll also need to extend my bump stops / replace my missing one.

Got my Napa Reman's in! They look much nicer than the old stuck and crusty units I took off.

So the Yukon master install kits come with Koyo carrier bearings and races, which is nice. But if you reused your oem nachi bearing when you installed your Arb locker carriers you need to pay attention to the race thickness. Turns out the Koyo bearing race is wider than the OEM Nachi Bearing Races. What does this mean? Well, this;

If you install the Koyo bearings and races the air collar will sit in the wrong location, it's too far out. So you will need to order a set of the Nachi 32010 J bearings. I got them for $33 each. Which is great, but kinda sucks that the koyo bearings I have now are useless to me. I'm curious if the same is true about the front axle.

Here is the koyo bearing side by side with the Nachi

Backlash set, pattern looks good... For a used gear set....

How is it possible to use an OEM carrier when installing an air locker?

It isn’t haha always catching me ;) I just reused the oem bearings and races when I put my lockers in years ago.

Took a break from working on my rig to build a box for my wife’s jeep. This will be a sleeping platform.

Also I found out both my front calipers are shot, so In addition to replacing a stuck rear caliper I’m going to replace both fronts and do new pads all around.

just chalking that up to the “make my 80 great again” campaign.

@SmokingRocks - is the on-road manners night and day from the OMEs? Getting ready to make the same switch (from ~10 year old OME shocks). What coils are you running- those don’t look like OME.

Not sure yet, it's still on jack stands in the garage waiting for parts from Mr. T to come in for the diff and one of the spindles. The coils are TJM's info is in the overview post (1st post linked here) of this build thread.

I'm going to leave them on, its best to protect the shaft. Ya know ;) they have drain holes in the bottom.

You guys, shaft's and drain holes, I'm no sure what to say  🤷‍♂️

500 miles on my new gears and I keep asking myself why I waited so long to do this! It's amazing! Highway driving is much more relaxing now. Well, it will be once I get my new double cardan front driveshaft put in tomorrow. The stock shaft was making sooooooooooooooooo much noise when I lifted off the gas at 70mph, I always knew I needed a DC shaft so I figured this was the time.

Night and day! It really opened my eyes to how harsh the OME's were.

Another thing I should’ve done ages ago came in today.

No more growling on deceleration, no more crazy vibrations.

Which brand did you go with? Pros and cons?
It’s a custom fabrication by colorado drive line. They used one of my spare oem front shafts to build it. I needed it quick because my standard driveshaft was making a terrible racket and I’ve got a ~800 mile round trip coming up.

$375 and one day turn around was well worth it.
