Jim's post #25 shows the dealer list price ... $22,700+

But we can honestly say ... priceless

:)

Historically Toyota has always been proud of their replacement parts and exceedingly proud of the very few long blocks ever actually available. When the Solara was new we had an occasion where a rental car company vehicle was abused and the engine was badly overheated. Since the vehicle was "current production" we were able to get approval to order and install a long block. If memory serves the engine alone was north of 10,000.00 dollars before a wrench was lifted. If the 2F motor was cataloged today in the US market my bet is the price-point would be at least 15,000.00 dollars and could easily be more.

On the other hand the asking price of long blocks was/is so high all but one or two individuals would suggest Toyota do something unusual with some sand.....

There is a new 3f floating around, it's about 5k.

It's been on ebay and for a bit, one of the sellers over your way.

I can remember when @livinginthepast squaked about the price of the last NOS PTO winch in a crate. My how times have changed.

Cool thread. I wonder if it would be advisable to spray some lube into the cylinders and top end. If that thing was stored around here in SC humidity, it would be toast.

luckily it was in the driest part of the country. If i end up keeping it here for a while will buy a de humidifier for it. As its very humid around here.

Might be worth plugging the fuel pump, distributor, and other openings... perhaps taping them off. Something to keep debris out and limit humidity.

Heck, throw some silica gel pacs in oil pan and valve cover if you'll be storing it awhile.
