Btw what are you going to do with it?

1) Sell it to a cruiser specific museum? :)

2) use it and drive the piss out of it?

3) build a showcase and display it in your house?

4) sell parts off of it?

5) use it for a 100% correct restoration?

Some great questions that I thought about but really undecided. For the time being its a keeper. When I found it it was like I'm gonna regret not buying it down the road so I got it.

So after scratch g my head for a few minuets I figured out that I need to remove these screws to get the top off.

Once I removed the screws I was surprised to find a plastic cover and the of smell rat droppings.

It turns out there is a small hole in the base of the crate which I guess the rats used to access to box.

The rats nest.

Once the cover was off I could see it was a clean and old engine. You'll see by the next few pictures what I mean.

This is about as exciting as seeing a Land Cruiser at the Drag Strip!

As mentioned before by a member that there seems to be oxidisation on the adapter which doesn't look like the normal decay of a used engine.

So next step was to remove more bolts from the side panel of the crate to reveal the engine number

Taking a close look at all the details it's in great condition for such an old engine.

That rat s*** stinks

A close up of the spark plug. Will pull one off tomorrow to see what kind it is and see if it's year specific.

It looks like the used core that someone swapped out for the engine that came in the box.

I guess anything is possible but the way it looks and smells I doubt it.

That my friend is almost certainly an NOS long block from around 35 years ago that has cosmetically suffered from less-than-ideal storage. What a score.
