Loaded up some 5.56 for the coming weekend. 23.4gr accurate 2230 under a 77gr nosler bthp. All wrapped in LC brass with a CCI primer. Data says it'll go 1000 yds before falling back under the sound barrier but wind at that distance will blow it off target. Should do 500-800 yds no problem though.

Reading this thread made me order some goodies for my carry.. update when package arrives. ..

I found some good info at thewindisnotyourfriend.com. learinig the Bernoulli effect, making great wind flgs

500 yard range in Ramseur.
Scoped 5.56.
I am getting better but still not in the top tier. My friend with a 150$ 50 year old hunting rifle with a 300$ scope on it beat most everyone. It was a sight to see.

300 yard targets above the 12 and the 6.
400 yard targets below the 5 mixed in with the 3 gongs and below the 8
460 yard targets below the 5 and the 11.

So I received my package from Galloway precision and I'm itching to shoot my new set up.
New stainless steel guide rod, new 20 lb recoil spring, new 35% shorter pull trigger bar, and a stainless short pull trigger.

When I had the gun apart I found that the safety was broken into two pieces and still working inside the gun... so I have a lc9 with a very short trigger pull and no safety.
Haha

How do you like the LC9? I have an LCP, but it's no fun to shoot. Way too snappy, but super compact for CCW, so I put up with it. Been thinking about trading for a sub-compact 9mm so I can reduce the # of calibers I have to buy.

The stock trigger pull was terrible. Go to Galloway precision website, they make a trigger bar that takes 35% of the trigger pull out. Makes a WORLD of difference. Everything about the 9, I love...

I have an LCP as well. Not much fun to shoot but with the Crimson Trace I feel it is a great concealed piece. .380 ammo is hard to find and pricey compared to 9mm. When I target shoot I almost always reach for my XDM 9mm and my little .22 Buckmark. Cheap and loads of fun!

I haven't shot the LCP in a while. At the range, I mostly shoot my Glock 17 or SR22. I do need to shoot the LCP some soon though, just to keep some familiarity. Mine has the LaserMax laser on it, and I agree....it makes a great concealed carry gun. Being a big guy, there aren't many IWB holsters that are comfortable, so a pocket pistol is the easiest way to go. The LCP is so small, I hardly notice it in my pocket. I think I'd rather go with a 9mm sub-compact, so I don't have to worry about finding and stocking .380, but I'm not sure if I'd like the added bulk for pocket carry.

I have and carry both a Sig 238 in .380 and a Kimber UltraCarry II in 45ACP. My brother bought the Sig 938 in 9mm and it's honestly only a fraction bigger than the 238, so given that difference, I would go the 9mm.

My preferred carry is the Kimber (I'm also a big guy) No questions .45 would do a better job. But sometimes a more discrete carry is required and the smaller frame pistols fit the bill.

Finding 380 is a pain, but I only shoot it to stay competent with it.

You might also try a Kimber solo. They shoot pretty nicely from what I have seen

My usual carry piece, only I have a Clip Draw and Eagle Secret Service grips when I carry. The J-magnum frame is great, can run anything from reduced velocity .38sp to .357 Mag. Shooting .357 does suck, +P is a little more manageable. image-3638055451.webp

The LCP is a pretty nice unit for its ultimate purpose. I liked mine for its concealment but like others said not real fun to shoot. But great purpose pistol and the ultimate conceal wallet holster was super slick.

I upgraded to the 238 before the 938 was out But really like it and fun to shoot. A little wider but scratched my 1911 itch at the time too. But that and the nano would be the small 9s that come to mind. The 938 getting better reviews.

I was waiting for someone to bring up the solo. Beautiful gun but hard to find and poor reviews from users I've spoke to. Mostly fail to fire on last round there were some early feeding issues that postponed it right after release. Dang good looking but ouch 1200 for a compact 9.

Oh man that's slick. Can I get on the list for its reassignment :)

Slowly hunting a sp101 but the older small jframes are nice. Just a couple benjimans more.

I've thought about the Sig 938, Beretta Nano, or Walther PPS as possible replacements for the LCP. The main difference would be the weight difference, as a pocket pistol. The unloaded weights of each are below:

Walther PPS - 20.8 oz.
Beretta Nano - 19.97 oz.
Sig Sauer P938 - 16.0 oz.
Ruger LCP - 9.42 oz.

As you can see, the LCP is WAY lighter than the next lightest choice. Probably why it's so snappy to shoot.
