Will do buddy! In all honesty, I hit 50%, then meatball and ramon were slightly behind me.

Still better than I did my first time there. I think I hit 20 or so outta 50.

Maybe I can learn something from you guys hitting 80-90% of the clays!

Easy. Short barrel. No choke. Hand thrower :D

knew you guys were lying. 50% aint bad there though.

I have my days there, i have shot anywhere from 30% to 75 % on different days. I am not consistant on sporting clays at all. damn rabbits.

It was fun - no doubt. I matched my course low at 46%, and meatball was using my Winchester 1300 w/ a modified choke (so he gets a bit of a pass). John smoked for his first time out for sure! I've been out there a handful of times over the years and IIRC my best was 32 (64%). I've never been great, by any stretch of the imagination. Need to get out to DCWC and get some skeet rounds in and hit it again - that's the first I've shot since August and it felt like it! Shoulda' called you up - my bad!

Ramon, if you can't hit something running away from you then how are you gonna hit something coming at you (...ahem...softball)?

All kidding aside, I've been meaning to try clays for a long time. I used to go out with a neighbor to his country land and he'd throw with a hand held thrower. Anything I missed I'd shoot on the ground with the .22. Went through a lot of LR.

Yes, I am breathing when shooting. :-)

I did try shooting at the end of an exhale. Is that what you mean? I'm still fairly new to shooting, but I'm working on it. I'd love to go shooting with ya sometime to pick up some pointers!

Johnny - Give me a shout next time. I'd love to go with you guys! Maybe I can learn something from you guys hitting 80-90% of the clays!

Come on down one day or we can meet at the URE range in Feb / march when it opens. Yes, shoot after exhale.

That's no lil scope ;) Specs on the whole shebang?

Ruger medium rings
Redfield revenge 3-9x42mm

Overkill for deer, but we have a growing hog problem around here that this unit will try to help eradicate...

Did a lil scope mounting yesterday on the new toy I got from Elkaholic...

Nice . Now go enjoy that thing. The decelerator pad will make it less punishing.

No problemo. Next time!

Either sounds good to me!

You guys were shooting sporting clays? I was an avid trap shooter for several years until lead shot up and my income shot down at the same time. We also had a 5-stand range at the club. Shooting wooble trap (variable) I shot 75 on a regular basis, never broke 100 but hit 99 many times. A round is 25, so 3 perfect rounds strung together and 1 miss out of 100 for a 99. Trap doubles was a blast, if you wait long enough to see if you hit the first, no way you will pick up the second. 5-stand had 9 different throwers. Some day we will get a thrower for here at our property. Lots of biodegradeable clays available out there.

There you go, Even hoop-roll them by hand
Pick off the survivors with a 22 rifle, then coup de grace(insurance tap) everything with your 22 pistol.
If you can afford even 22LR these days.

Versacarry IWB. It puts the gun up against your skin or clothing layer so it's not right for all guns. I think the PPKS is not a good candidate with its grooved safety lever, sharp rear sight and rear slide edge. I wore it around the house for about 3 hours before my skin started screaming at me. Probably wouldn't take too long to wear a hole through an inside clothing layer with the PPKS so I'll not bother with that. There's also no cant to the Versacarry. The holster installs and removes easily in the waistband. I was able to tighten up a notch on my belt over using my leather Galco IWB. Easily converted to left- or right-side carry.

I like the idea of the Versacarry and plan on trying one for a different pistol. For $25 it might be a solid option for a smooth or melted carry gun. They're sold by barrel size, not by specific pistol. Revolvers have their own models. The barrel plug is a really hard, smooth and slick material - I tried but can't scratch it off with a fingernail.

Picked up this the other day. Its all cleaned and ready to be broken in, just gotta find time and money, as usual.

If anyone wants to go skeet/trap shooting, I know a great place down in Gastonia. $4.25 per box that you shoot! Thats if you don't live in Gastonia. Just let me know!

How difficult is it re-holstering? Seems like it would be tough aligning the barrel and the plug while inside your pants.

Went shooting at Deep River on Saturday with Ramon and Meatball. Holy cow was that fun!! Time to start going more often.

Allen, that second one is a pretty tight group. I'm sure it'll only get better with practice!

Deep River is an awesome place. Ever go to Drake's Landing in Fuquay Johnny?
