Nice work! Its is definitely a satisfying and worthwhile job on these old rigs!
Thanks. Had to get way deeper than expected and my wife is amazed I didn‘t screw it up.
Even she noticed how much smoother it is now so that‘s a plus.

I’m all set with my service lift reservation for next Thursday and excited about the H55F
The rig is running better than ever after the injector service.
AND.....my new 70 series sun visors arrived from Partsouq in the UAE.

Well, still no hole saw so I decided to install the replacement accelerator cable I bought a couple years ago. I used the Pioneer CA 9013 that @LAMBCRUSHER recommended FJ62 Accelerator cable length
As noted you have to shave down the white washer to fit through the hole in the pedal bracket. I also had to narrow up the two Tabs on the oblong piece that sits on the inside of the firewall since I couldn’t get a flush fit with the accelerator pedal bracket that bolts on top of it.
One thing to know, I have this cable adjusted to the longest it can be and it’s barely keeping the cable tension snug on the throttle body, If it stretches I’ll have some pedal play before gas kicks in.

Replying to my own post because I ran into an issue on this accelerator cable which I posted as a public service announcement on the 60 series forum the other day.
I didn't seat the dust boot well enough since I had to use most of the adjustment available to get the right tension/pedal feel.
The dust boot jammed the throttle open the other day. I've since cut it off completely.
Scary for a minute or so when the engine RPM kept up after letting off the gas pedal.

T-Minus four days to the swap.
Decided to do some test fitting, good thing I did. I wasn‘t careful enough when I was cleaning up the bell housing (and lazy) and I had forgotten to clean the rust out of all the bolt holes. To make it better, I didnt cover the holes while painting. Two hours of CLR, Q-Tips, thin strips of ScotchBrite pads and some anti seize and all is well.

Painted up the TDC and 7 degrees before markers on the flywheel.

Got the shift boots all cleaned up and started organizing all the stuff for my visit to the shop. From reading all the swap threads, watching @orangefj45 video on transfer case rebuilds etc I think I have all the goodies:

Long extensions
Ratchet elbow joints
Small (in/lb), medium and large torque wrenches
Light hold and medium hold Locktite
Lockite gasket maker for the gaskets on the transfer case (George‘s recommended boend)
Chisels for staked nuts and 32mm and 34mm sockets on the transfer case
Etc Etc Etc

The transmission, rear main seal (2 just in case) and the longer bolts for the transfer to transmission as recommended by several threads are all being delivered to the shop Tues.

Dig into a FJ60 FSM for the torque values of the flywheels bolts, clutch bolts, etc. as that info may not be in the 3FE manual.

I also suggest painting the round dot on the flywheel white.

Don't go crazy with the first drive

Thank you @Godwin
I have the full 100Meg 60 series FSM on my Ipad which I‘ll have on hand. I put a PDF together for each activity (trans drop, transfer case rebuild, trans install) in separate files so its easy to access during the swap.

Ps - thanks for noticing the 7 degrees dot, got it painted now.

Pardon me, but could I convince you to measure that steering column diameter for me? I 'need' one of those dust boots for my 80/85 mini and the one called out from the stealership is NLA.
No worries ar all.
The diameter on the lower steering column is 28mm

This diameter?

Ok thanks 👍

Thais Felicity, yes, I’d happily give it a Home! I’m close, just let me know when. Can deliver beer or parts exchange too
@yodafrick
Just sent you a PM.
The transmission will be out by Thursday 12/10. I also will have the drive shafts (excluding the front shaft forward flange), carpet, shifter and linkage, transfer case linkage and A440F shop manual for you. If you don't need the bits I'm sure someone in your Yankee Toys group can put them to good use.

In other news, the new tranny and shifter arrived at the shop today.

Thanks.
I’m in the shop until Tuesday unless everything goes smoother than expected.
They will accommodate me if we need to store the stuff for a few extra days. Just let me know what works for you and/or @yodafrick
I just found the Yankee Toys forum. I’ll have to join.
Cheers.

I love your build thread and it's almost perfect... Too bad you have to deal with those goofy double rectangular headlights :rofl::rofl:
Give me some time. After this I’ll do exhaust and maybe re-chrome the wheels and bumpers. Maybe I’ll convert to peoper roundies (though my wife would shoot me after spending $$$$ on heated LEDs) 👍
