With the sniper installed, what are you doing with your choke knob? I’ve contemplated adding the sniper, but to be honest, I really love the nostalgia of the manual choke and I would miss that endearing cold morning routine (not being sarcastic). Weird I know.
The "Choke Knob" is resting in an OEM parts box. The "Choke Hole" is the new home of a RAM mount that holds the Sniper's Touch Screen Controller. My initial thought was to locate the hand throttle there, but the cable wasn't long enough. Thus it was located in it's standard location at the bottom of the dash.

Alright, how about a Holley Sniper update?

On Saturday, the wife and I decided to get out of the house and go to Helen, Georgia for a walk-about. The plan was to take in some hiking trails too. As I was loading up the Tacoma, Wife says, "Let's take the 40?"........Now who am I to say "NO" to that request....Transferred the gear into the '77 and spent most all Saturday out and about in the North Georgia mountains in the Land Cruiser.

Trip time: 10 hours (+/-)
Road time: about 5.5 hours (+/-)
Miles: 200 miles (10% highway & 90% back-roads)
Fuel consumption: 14.4 gallons
Mileage: 13.88 mpg

My thoughts: The Sniper performed flawless, from the initial crank at the shop Saturday morning till we returned it back to it's home that evening. With several stops along the trip, no problem re-firing my rig with a simple turn of the key. The most impressive part was once we got into the hills, I could tell a major difference in the 2F's performance. While in 3rd or 4th gear, the engine produced plenty of power, and down-shifting was minimal. Now bear in mind, the Appalachian hills are totally different from the Rocky Mountains, but that's our geography.

That is encouraging, especially considering 90% back roads. I know fuel economy is not the primary reason to go with a Sniper or other FI, but that is still pretty decent economy. I've only been able to get that high (with my stock carb) one time in 12 years, and then only with smooth pavement, a tail wind, and the moon and stars in alignment.

Nice outing you had there Rick. Really enjoyed the pics. In the middle of a move now, but hope to get out exploring once we are in the new place👍

Wait, Georgia's trails are locked down? I thought Georgia was opened up. That's one sweet rig.

Definitely. I think I was around 11.5 or 12 last time I checked, many moons ago. 13+ is impressive.

Are you running EFI or still Carbed?

Well, if Dukes Creek Falls wasn't a 'National Forest' area, I guess it would be open? Was told the Fed's were handing out $5,000 trespassing rewards to all that dared to venture past the closure gates. :meh:

Tried to do some hiking this past weekend, but the trails were on "Lock Down"! No water fall exploring........:frown:

Rick, call me and I can tell you where some great falls are right down the street from our cabin. Excellent hike to see them. The park is closed, but I can tell you where to park and walk in. I need to bring my 40 up for a mountain trip. I have never taken it out of Atlanta. Mark

Is that device to the right what you used to crimp those connectors? Thanks!

It was, but I have since upgraded to a YQK-70 Portable 10 Ton Hydraulic pliers and redid some of the grounds and positive lead to the starter.
