I retro fit the original clips using a dremel tool. The cutting wheel to make a slot, a burring bit to make an inset hole, and a dental tool create the space to slide the clip in. Used the same method on my doors. Once you get set up and going it doesn’t take long

One box is left over parts from one that was rebuilt using the main body of a Bosch model that was used in BMW’s. 2nd box is the original from my 77 that gave out 3rd day in route tonPP21. 3rd box is a Bosch that I picked up on eBay, It spins and gurgles so hopping it has parts that will help create a living breathing backup compressor. Last but not least is the compressor I got from nun other than “pig eaten’s” walnut ranch and big farm.

Goal: Successfully build at least one working compressor out of 4 donors as a backup.

Admittedly not an eloquent solution but a solution nonetheless.



Top left shows the parts made from Home Depot 1.5” ABS fittings, I cut the bell and glued a 1/8” section back on the pipe to form a barb to prevent the flex line from slipping off.

Top right shows the 1” orifice I glued into the Y’s to restrict the flow going to the side window vents.



Middle picture shows the two Y’s or technically one Y and one T attached to the 90’s and how they orientate under the dash. Because of space constraints this combination of fittings may not be the best for proper air flow but they will fit and get air were I need it.



Bottom picture shows how the 90’s fit inside the hacked up factory defroster vents, I still need to dissemble everything to wrap the wiring harness and I will clean up the vents then. The 90’s will also get some self-tapping screws to secure them to the factory vents on final assembly.

Rear seals started leaking so I ripped everything apart expecting to see something obvious. All of the seals and surfaces looked great with the exception of the buildup of oil grease mud on everything.

Cruiser outfitters will have all the new seals to me in 2 days I'll jam this deal back together see if we can stop it from leaking.

Hey Jim, Do you have a seal in the tube at the pumpkin and one outboard in the tube by the flange. I've got that Diamond axle housing with the inner seal and it has always leaked, so I went with the outer seal, also.

I machined the spindles for the marlin seals and had a seal surface built up on the RCV axles when I had them made that mirror the outside seals on the front axle.
Everything looks new and checks out good. I had a small amount of oil on the inside of my tire and didn't realize this had been leaking for awhile until I tore it apart and seen all the oily mud packed up on the inside of the rotor

The whole thing is a work of art. The more you look the more you see and I like the fact most everything was hand built in the shop.

We'll a little more digging this afternoon while getting the parts cleaned up and ready to put back together..

If you look at the gasket on the back side of the spindle you'll see it is broken around one of the bolt holes, that is one of the two lower holes.

Looking at the witness mark on the flange I would say it's been like this since I originally put this together and is most likely where this gear oil has been seeping from.

Actually no, all of these gaskets came from Cruiser Outfitters.
I've had several gaskets that I have bought that seem like the paper was very old and brittle right out of the package. I'm in no way blaming them and believe Kurt only buys what he believes is best for his customers but stuff happens in this hobby and there is no reason for finger pointing. They have always been good to me and I'll continue to support them.
