Well today I drove to LA (no not Louisiana) and dropped off 4 A/C compressor carcasses to the rebuild shop for another try for original AC. I asked him to try and salvage 2 if possible.

2- Nippondenso’s
2- Bosch ( made by TOYODA )

I don’t want to be that guy and show my naitivity to all but I’m gonna have to be. What the hell is this?

Instead of drilling holes, inserting screws and yanking on them with a slam hammer. You end up drilling a lot of holes that you then are supposed to weld closed but a lot of people don’t weld them closed.

This tool spot welds a number of different varieties of pull tabs on to the area and then using the slam hammer to pull on those tabs. Some of the tabs snap off, other break off and leave a small copper Head that you sand or grind off.

This way your not left with dozens of screw holes peppering the metal

I have the originals but their not in very good shape. Wonder if they are 3D able. Some day!

1958 Triumph TR 3. A custom build back in 2000. Aluminum tonneau cover, blue printed engine. Thats when I was introduced to JE pistons and carrillo rods.

Well after years of hoping to maybe install headrests. Thanks to numerous pig donors and the fellow obsessed. Rusher for the headrests, pigeatn for the upholstery grommets and FJ55-100 for the dimensions that I used to locate where to cut into my upholster.
Used my micro bore camera to photo the internal location before taking the scalpel

was cruising my sty yesterday and walked by a seat, thought of this thread, turned seat over to find innards to headrests
I did inspect the insides of the jacks without dissecting and it all looked gooy and greasy.

on another note
out of all the chances I had to measure the location of the headrests I never thought to take the opportunity.

Anyone available to get a measurement for me regarding 1977 headrest location?

found a seat at sty yesterday, pulled cover off, here is innards for headrests

No great revelations here other than got my ac compressor back from repair shop.
Good news is nothing was wrong with the internals. The rubber damper on the clutch mechanism failed. (Ancient old rubber). Was able to install a good condition rubber replacement. Cross my fingers.

My red and white 71 has been neglected due to an unknown reason the interior smells like gas When driven. I had a small dent (possibly superficial crack) on top of tank, soldered and added a missing hose clamp to a breather hose and replaced the gas cap.

Did a smoke test yesterday and found the problem. A 1/16” hole in the filler hose not easily visible. When I discovered it I had to slap my self upside my head because eight years ago I found the same thing with my 77. That time I spilt 5 gallons of gas from my tank all over the concrete driveway around my pig and the temperature was 110 degrees that day. I stepped away and hoped it would evaporate before I had to call the fire dept.

Red and white pig can now move forward on next level of improvement.
-Rear tailgate and window weather strip
-Raise the front seat 2” (did that to my 72 back in 73)
-Inspect the condition of the floor boards (have not done that since purchase)
-Service, repair, paint floor as needed
-Install floor insulation
-Install carpet (since this one)

Pictures of gas termite damage (or mini me’s siphoning gas at night)
will probably not be used in mud bogs by me)

Well that’s the short list for now

Out of curiosity, what's the plan for the hose replacement?
In my 77 I found 2 hoses, 1 with the pend to get though the body section and one with slight bend to aiming at the first one and coupled the two with hard pipe and hose clamps easier to take apart at any giving time. For the 71 similar plan found a hose that had the pends and trajectory but lengthened It

same as the 77.

Well, A/C back on line. Had a the TOYODA/BOSCH that I was using before, repaired. The Nippondenso model seems to have a hard time finding parts for.

42 degrees coming for the evaporator on recirculate during a 98 degree day. Even made an adjustment so that it runs at idle sitting at stop lights.

Jonesing for a road trip
