Great! Another vote for late in the year!

Seriously I do think that if this event is at a slightly different location during a slightly different time of year it will draw the best crowd.

I have Land Cruisers to get me away from infrastructure. :D

I'm all for a Pony Express, Swell, Abajo, Beef Basin or Henry's type trip. We do several in those areas each year with groups of 20 (or less) and it works well. With the new monument some of those areas are permitted so 10+ vehicles is going be tough. Moab is easy because it has the infrastructure, variety of options and the BLM welcomes large groups. PET is easy with bigger groups, Sand Hollow or Kanab too.

Well, a little infrastructure goes a long way.....:)

Somebody is going to have to organize, communicate, host and manage a Western event, preferably someone with a 70 who knows the territory. Any volunteers?

By West, I assume you don't mean Mississippi? :)

My vote is Swell, Escalante/Grand Staircase/Capitol Reef, Late October. Hunting season, I know but it's also the best time be in the desert. Oh and I just picked up a FZJ75 so stay tuned for an introduction post!! :) Dreams do come true.

No way would I beat my truck up on that trail. :princess:

My thought: the weekend prior to SEMA and hosting at Sand Hollow (Hurricane UT)

Plenty of options for getaway overnight runs....day trips that can be challenging and/or scenic...some will already be enroute to Vegas for SEMA, which is only 2 hours down the road. Hotel and camping options abound, civilized or primitive...weather is good that time of year...doesn't interfere with Trail Hero, Southern Cruiser Crawl, BAJA or anything else I can come up with.

Moab is overdone. Ouray/etc is overdone (and super busy, having just been there). SW Utah offers a lot of options, and is VERY OHV friendly as well. 160,000 OPEN OHV acres to play on between UT and AZ.

Plus, selfishly, it's my backyard :)

2017 dates would end up Oct 26-29
2018 dates would end up Oct 25-28
2019 dates would end up Oct 31 - Nov 3

I think most people fly out to Selma and the ones that drive there like I do would run in to issues time wise and logistics.

Not looking forward to leave a trailer loaded with my 73 unattended in Vegas, and definitely not driving my 73 cross country and go wheel it at the same time. s*** happens on the trail when there is no back up plan ;-)

So drop the trailer at Woodyville, ya? Maybe a guy could pick up some parts from you while there.

I am liking what you guys are thinking......

For how many/few 7x owners would this be on the way and who could/would take the 7 to 10 days off to make this work ?

Thought leadership like this is why Woody is THE BOSS!!!

Not that my vote matters all that much but I'd make it work...not going to SEMA since I'll be seeing the LC79 here in Colorado next month:rofl:...and 12+ hours from Denver is doable.
