Sounds awesome, I'd love to attend something like this. For me it doesn't matter if it's in the middle of nowhere or at an improved site.

Location and time of year are connected due to weather factors.

St George is awesome! There have been some very successful winter 4x4 events there in the past or early spring / late fall is also very pleasant.

Someone mentioned Green River. We were looking into hosting an event there and it has 2 nice private campgrounds and several hotel options (Super 8 down to some $30/night dives). Also the city was VERY willing to help, provide support and provide a city park for the event. They'd love to have tourist traffic. It's a great jumping off point for interesting day-trips in every direction, it's even close enough to Moab to make a day run down there. The Swell, Goblin Valley, Sego, Thompson Springs, Crystal Geyser, or even a long day trip to 9 mile canyon. Best time would be late spring or early fall for that area.

Southern Colorado would be great. Grand Junction or Delta area? Grand Mesa? Pretty good through the summer?

Flagstaff Arizona is a cool area.

Wyoming? Pinedale or northwest WY?

Death Valley in the winter?

Do something different and go end to end instead of static? Mojave Road? Pony Express through Nevada and/or Utah? This might limit the attendance, but an all-70 series multi-day trip would be rad.
GREAT intel, Steve, thanks!

Southern CO, Utah, or Central Coast CA (this one is selfish I have family there), would be great options. Spring or early summer would be wonderful times, avoid the crowds, enjoy some trails with smaller groups. Interested to see what develops here, and excited at the possibility of hanging with a bunch of 70s!

I doubt that. Everyone knows I have nothing to contribute, nothing good to say. I'm a moron parts guy. I don't know anything supposedly worth of value.

Uh, nope, nope, nope, nope and nope.

Facebook, maybe :)

My only suggestion for location would be the Lost coast area of Northern California. Surely there are tons of options but this is what came to mind. I was there recently and there was a pretty cool 4x4 track that took about 45minutes and consisted of uphill climbs, awesome views and little bits of sloppy mud mixed in until you were driving right beside the beach and camping. Nothing crazy 4x4 wise but just entertaining enough for a large variety of people. People were able to make it with stock tacomas and even a rental 4x4 expedition so nothing to truly stress about. Activities could be Surfing, paddle boarding, fishing, whatever interest you as a coastal/beach activity. There was enough space for a good amount of vehicles to be spread out.

If infrastructure is required, I agree with Moab or Green River (the Super 8 has a honeymoon suite with a heart shaped hot tub!) as there are lots of options from either place and it's central to lots of folks. I'd also be interested in exploring the Escalante/Dixie forest areas and there are lots of little towns to hop between for a psuedo-overland experience. And I also curious about exploring the Zion/St George area. After Labor day would be best as the crowds drop off as well as the temps.

The venue for the Southeast Meet & Greet will never be able to compete with a heart shaped hot tub. :)

I just wanna fly out and go surfing after reading that! Haha.

I'm in given enough notice. The greater Four Corners area is pretty amazing with tons to see and do, but I'd be happy to see some new territory. In addition to Green River, Moab or Ouray, the Gunnison, CO area has a lot offer. Fall to early winter are better for the desert climates, plus fewer people is always a good thing. The Bears Ears and or The Abajo mountains near Monticello and Blanding UT is a cool area to explore and is big enough to offer hotels, restaurants, etc.
