It's about 15 mins south of town. It would be on google maps/earth.

It's just an open area. I think there is a ghost town there. No facilities just camping in the forest kind of next to the hiway.

@John McVicker @POTATO LAUNCHER

I'm coming up from Ventura, when do you plan to leave? I could use a caravan.

Excellent mattressking: 8/6/17...maybe 8/5/17, I can't locate my notes but have asked Sheepdawg to let me know what we decided upon...but it's one of those 2 dates. Hope these dates work out so that you can join us, always best to caravan.

Sheepdawg (post 94) and I are going to do 2 days of trails in Moab on our way over, which is the reason for our early departure. After Colorado, Sheepdawg is heading one way but I'm heading back to Ca., so we can also consider caravaning back to Ca. also. Let me know if any of this works into your schedule and we can get down to some serious planning.

EDIT: Update...we will be leaving on 8/5/17.

Ah that is a bit tricky, I want to leave that early but as of right now but Aug 6 is the end of my lease. I can try and push to be moved into a new place before then. I'll keep you guys updated with my status.

After finally sitting down and looking at what dates might work for me, I'll probably be leaving the bay area 8/7/ and may end up catching up with your group on your way out of Moab. I was thinkning that I'll most likely swing through Moab for a few days on my way back to Ca;... unless I end up going north to Glacier NP or something equally as far off course.. lol

Do you guys have a rough estimate as to when you'll expect to arrive at Moab? I'm coming in from Massachusetts on 8/4, but the plan is to roll straight into Moab then head to the SAS afterward in the same fashion. Would be nice to link up if possible

Our plan is to leave Ca. on 8/5 and arrive in Moab on 8/6. Select a camp spot etc on that date and then do some wheeling on 8/7 & 8/8. Head over to SAS on 8/9 and be ready to rock on 8/10.

EasternYeti, when you say 8/4...do you mean that's when you will be leaving Mass. or is that when you plan to arrive in Moab?

I'm leaving mass on 8/4 but we'll be driving straight through to Moab taking some shifts behind the wheel of the rig. It'll be quite the task but we can rest up once we're out there. I don't think anyone else is coming from the East so we're just blitzing it

2 months out people!!! @troutbum and I 2 years ago when I first moved to Colorado

Anyone bringing their 40? I have now taken off an extra two days from work to attempt to drive the BJ40 up there. All depends if I can scramble together the last few things that I need to fix or add for the journey. Mainly a top!

Yessir, driving my 73 40 and brother is driving the 60. Bring it on sir..

Cim, my son is driving his 62 with a 5speed, wants to take his time. ( guessing 65mph) you might want to convoy.

65 is light speed compared to what I would be at. 55-60 on flat ground. No telling what I would be at going up.

Aight Folks, getting a head count for this and need confirmations for those that are on the fence.
We will bring shirts and participant stickers to Ouray only, not shipping anything out must attend to receive some swag.

Also to keep things simplified all information is being tracked only on this thread so if you know of anyone planning to attend that has not confirmed please encourage them to do so. Hoping to have shirts in print in a couple of weeks so accurate numbers and sizes will be appreciated. This will help keep cost down.
If you have any questions please feel free to PM or call @mcguirejohnson or myself @POTATO LAUNCHER.

As of the time of this post we have 46 people attending. 3 FJ40s, 11 FJ60s, 3 FJ62s, 9 FJ80s and 3 LX450s.

Pic is on Imogene Pass Trail.
