So based on this…. SOR or TROA are two options?

Just sent message to TROA, what are folks seeing for price and shipping?

I have seen yawls wait time but pricing?

Bummer. Looking at the seems below the windows and across the front, you might find a local shop that can extend those sections. It's probably cheaper than a new top. Or buy a sewing machine capable to handle that material.

PM me if you want and I can get you pricing and an estimated ship time. I’m a small vendor for them.

Heck yea! Thanks bud!

Well I was running all week trying to get ready to be out of town this week. monday they sent me another tracking #, and it was finally delivered wed. 2 days away from being 8 weeks. it does look nice though.
It will probably be sunday or monday before I can remove the hardtop and set this one on to let it settle in. I guess we'll see if I get a tariff bill soon.

I do not recommend relik at all. took 2 months to get to me, offered me a $50 discount on my next order for the delay. got it out of the box and sitting on the truck to realize it had a hole burned in it right over the driver seat where it attaches to the crossbar. sent him pics, he asked for more detailed pics, then completely ghosted me and won't talk to me anymore.
it got too hot and caught fire when they were pressing the velcro strip to the top. you can see daylight thru a hole there.

My 2 cents. I've bought soft tops from both Relik and TROA. Been a few years, but TROA was a fantastic experience, custom made to what I wanted (eg straps in specific spots) and the top was excellent quality imo. Relik was not a good experience. They are not a good customer support company.

Wow.
Not the same place that makes TROA tops like I thought. Different technique and material too it looks like.

Bummer about your experience, that sucks.

yeah I wish I had been able to get my money back and order from you. probably out of luck as much time has gone by. I'm sure the credit card company probably wont' do anything at this point.

The Curse of the FST
You can say that again. I tried helping Jim (OCD Beetle) Even bought him a commercial sewing machine, his material. I got his list of all the people he had taken money/ orders from and would sell a top for him and only give him the money after I had my customers top in hand and a top from the list of customers he still owed. I just told him never to lie to me. In the end he did but this is after I probably got 90% of his list taken care of.

I started making my own tops with Julie and things were great for about 3 years. After a while it got to the point where I didn't have the time to go pick up the tops and ship them out and deal with the customer service. So I decided to let her make and sell them and take orders directly and I would just get a small commission. It went fine for a few years then she stopped paying me which wasn't a big deal because at the end of the day it was about having a person people could count on. A year later things went south. She was behind. It was almost like the Jim situation all over again. I was done babysitting. At the end I even bought material for her to finish the 6-10 people she owed tops too. From my knowledge she never made them. Sucks. In the end I lost a lot of money.

Ironically we are installing a Relik Garage top right now. It's a basket case.

Thank you for your take and telling of the story. If our paths ever cross I’d love to sit a spell.

I followed your cautionary tale when I was looking for a soft top for my 40.

These nightmare stories are kind of why I jumped in with TROA to at least try and be an advocate for the customer.

And I have one....thats 5...big numbers indeed

Might want to go to the 25 section and look at the thread count the 25s. Then look at the number of early FJ40 FSTs posted in that section. Early days FST out numbered the hard tops. Not huge numbers but five doesn't come close to the number that have been posted in the twenty one years I've been a member on Mud.
