Shock PORN!!!

$870 + shipping :censor:

I have the Airlift bags and New Tokico shocks (Toyota Brand).

Is it correct to assume the shocks absorb the small stuff and the springs absorb the big stuff?

I think my setup lacks the softness when the bags are full.

Bags were less than $100 and and 1 evening of work.

I think you're close, but not quite accurate. The shocks absorb ALL bumps, regardless of small, large, fast, slow, etc. They also contribute to your feeling of "harshness" or wallowy, body movement, make your teeth chatter, unable to recover quickly after a bump or coming out of a corner. The springs do only one thing, carry the load.

I too have air bags in the rear Slee springs, along with the OME sport shocks.

Well I've got well over 100 miles off pavement now since installing them Wednesday. What a difference. Can't wait for the fronts. Who needs to order a barrier? I need shock funds...

What springs are you currently running?
I may have to just bite the bullet, pucker my arse, and let go of my wallet to grab a set..

I'm currently on Ironman 50mm springs with 30mm spacers at all corners. Without pulling the part number the fronts are the "heavies" and the rears are the mediums with like. +660lb rating. They are way too soft. I plan to upgrade to Slee's 4"

My rear Ironman foam cell shocks were completely dead on the compression side after 100K. So the difference was magnified by that. I'm guessing my fronts are no different.

Running OME heavies front and back with no spacers so I think these would work well then.

I've also considered just swapping my rear springs out with Ironman constant load units which should be roughly the same as the OME extra heavies. But I think I'd enjoy the extra inch of up travel at speed. In the end the price would probably be pretty close as I can sell the Ironman set for probably the cost of the Slee fronts. everything else on my truck is already set up for a 4" lift unless I get the front drive shaft vibes.

Well I finally was able to get a set of front Slee resi shocks to match my rears. I put in Slee's 4" springs last fall. Not much drive time on the front shocks yet but initial impressions are all smiles. Need to get her out in the dirt. But before that I need to confirm I have enough bumpstop to prevent the shock from bottoming out.

Pic for your viewing pleasure. Install on the fronts is cake.

They look bad ass.

Shock PORN!!!!

How difficult/expensive is rebuild? And any idea how often it will be needed?

the problem I've seen with all these high end shocks is in the rear. They all seem to remotely mount the reservoir on the front but the rear is just strapped on to the shock body. On both trucks that I've seen the reservoir on the rear contacts the LCA on full compression. It would be great to locate the reservoir on the side of the upper spring perch.

Any one doing this?

You cannot really relocate the rear reservoir, many of them are made into the body, on a Land Cruiser I have never seen them hit anything

I've seen the reservoir on two different manufacturers hit the LCA in the rear. Both reservoirs where strapped to the body of the shock. King and RadFlos
