Yeah, I've read Romer's thread about 5 times but lately reading the swich threads so I might have missed his coments on the tools.

Would it be a mistake to redo the leather with the heaters BEFORE i have the switches sourced and tested? I was thinking I could rewire those later..... allows me to get started now. I think this should be ok as I can just do the last re-wire changes at the end or later. Does that make sense OR should I pretest everything on the bench first?

If you are going to go with stock switches, it would be ideal to have them for the initial install. I only say this because my plan has always been to source stock switches and replace the switches that came with the heaters. Here I am, 4 or 5 years later and I still haven't sourced factory switches. The switches that came with the heaters work fine and look acceptable. I'd like factory switches but may end up never getting them.

I made an inquiry to Japan 4x4, from the vendors list. As I recall it was about $65 a piece for the factory 3 way switches. Then a minimal amount to ship from Japan. They come with the pig tail, and I think you have to add a resistor to the low side in order for them to work with Shane's seat heaters. It's all in someone's write up. As with most, the heaters are on a shelf in the garage and I never followed thru with the switches from Japan 4x4. Dave got right back to me with the info and was forthright with the ordering and shipping info. I believe he also said you can get the switches in vertical or horizontal orientations. The heaters are going to go into my wife's recently purchased 450 soon. May put the horizontal orientation in the dash on each side of the rear heater switch... More work as I would have to move the "security" light to the other side of the steering wheel to find an unused blank. HTH

Lexus part is
84751-33011-22

Looks to be available only in black--all color codes refer to this black switch.

Does anybody know if I order these Lexus switches, do they come with the pig tail cables OR do I need to track those down seperate?

I am pretty sure that it will not come with the mating connector and pigtails.

Id source them from a local pick and pull, ES 300 92to96. Found mine for 10 each and got about 8" of wire. Chose to solder mine directly in but you can find the console mates in many other toyotas and splice the two together.

Too cold so I just hacked the center console of the ES and grabbed the switches and as much wire as I could.

lol, yeah the thought of wondering the wrecking yard in the cold made me consider paying the crazy price for new switches. but if I need the pigtails too, I might as well do it the cold but frugal way....

The two motivating factors for me were:
I got oak colored and I'm broke!

Made a few calls this morning and found these at a local Pick & Pull yard .. The guy charged me $5.00 for all four... 2 Oak and 2 Dark Taupe

Score!

Can you get more?! I need two of the dark colored ones. Dark grey.

I'll be headed to the yard again this weekend if the weather permits and keep my eyes out for some. If you're out and find any get as MUCH of the pig tails as possible and snip them out.

Not worth the hours it would take to find the other end of the pigs IMHO but would make the install easier than snipping the console side and soldering.

Hi Lou. I could use two oak switches if avail.

I'm going to use the Oak for the front seats and may use the dark ones for the rear seat.... I see your from NJ... you have quite a few auto salvage yards up that way....I made one call looking for 1992-1997 ES300 and they had 7 cars but only two had heated seats.... you won't have a problem finding them.... but I will continue searching other yards for more

I'll take any black ones if someone has a couple to spare

I would pay someone for their efforts if they could deliver two oak ones with the connectors and pigtails. I just bought new leather and heaters from Shane and want the OEM switches. I just don't have the time to get them myself. Would $50 for the pair with connectors and pigtails be reasonable? PM me if anyone is interested.

What's all the rage with the oak switches. I get that they match some trim but all the other switches are black. Kind of makes them stick out like the non-oem switches.

I think the advantage is that you can get them cheap at a junkyard. Unfortunately, I could only find one broken switch when I tried and wound up buying the OEM black ones from 4x4 Japan... so the black switches are way cooler...

Getting both ends of the pigs is tricky to say the least, on an LS you almost have to pull both seats and the console. You can find the console end connectors in plenty of other toys though and then play the splicing game. For me the weather was getting cold and I just wanted it finished and buttoned back up since I hadn't had all four seats in mine, at the same time, for almost a year.

Agree that they would stick out on the dash but not on the console. The coin holders are oak on the console but the blank covers are black on the dash (to match the switches).

FWIW, I don't think I would have a problem installing black switches either on the console.
