Stripping down the front end.

Is it me or does the steering arm look bent up?

One side down. Stinky job. Spindle nuts attached via chisel. 🤘

Crazy s***. I got two drivers side calipers that won't fit over the rotor. I think some non vent rotor width calipers are in the system. I've had this happen before but I can't remember if it was NAPA or not. I'm taking a rotor with me when I return this one

Turns out the Pitman arm was completely jacked up. Never seen that one before.

My buddy here just put in a Saginaw so I was able to score a straight one local

Fired up the paint booth. New internals should arrive tomorrow from Kurt.

Should have gotten the new ADVICS from CO.

The closer I get to getting the big stuff done the more I keep looking sideways at all of the wiring modifications that have occurred in this one.

I have been trying to find a good 1984 FJ40 wiring diagram but that is such an oddball nothing is coming up past 1982.

Anyone know if there was a different harness after 1982?

Funny, two weeks ago I needed to know about the dash harness, I reached my 40 guy and that's what he said about Saudi 40s:

- 1982 and less has no 4wd light and plugs from the dash to the under the hood are different
- 1983 has a 4wd light but no seat belt light.
- 1984 has 4wd and the seat belt light.

If you have questions please reach me to ask him. He likes to collect harness from the yards ad refresh them all the them.

Other than some minor differences, as noted by @Meshal, I think any European or General Countries wiring diagram from 1980 onward would work. I looked up the main chassis wiring harness for a GCC spec 1984 FJ40 and then searched for other applications. The list is longer than I'm pasting as it wouldn't all fit on my laptop screen but you can see it's most, if not all, 80-86 European and General Country FJ4X models.

I'm not familiar with the tool you are using or what I could get from it.

Not a problem. Just trying to answer your question. Use any wiring diagram for European or General Country 1980 to 1984 FJ40s. There was no difference in the main wiring harnesses after 1982. The North American wiring harnesses are different apparently but I have no idea how different. Probably not much but the part numbers are different. It wasn't clear which 1982 diagram you had in hand.

There are differences in harnesses depending on destination for the GCC specifically--mainly if the truck was going to Oman or to KSA.
Any insight into where one might find a 1980-84 KSA or even just a GCC diagram? Google doesn't help much, at least not for me.

Market-specific documents and manuals would be coming from agencies that are in that market. In this case that stuff is undoubtedly way out of print. Maybe a manual or two, in Arabic, in the atic of a long-time dealership.

During that time period, the EWD would have been at the back of a Body/Chassis manual and not a separate document.
Any chance this document that SOR lists is a real thing?

Dobinsons parts came in today. I had a day full of distractions but I managed to eeek out a little work. Caster shims installed and the rear leafs going in before my buddy @Godwin showed and and took my train off the tracks completely for the day.

My big order from Cruiser Outfitters is sitting in the Jackson post office since last Friday. Hopefully they will be in my hands tomorrow.
