Oh, but I have upped my game , My northern friend. Just in a different way. Since I stopped drinking years ago the delusion of being good at relationships left too. Ive added a few new cruisers to my stable. But the best. I added a 3rd Blue Heeler. Found a 3 legged little girl at the local shelter I named her Ilean. Shes my kind of girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought my life was nuts as a drunk try living in a 3 Blue Heeler house hold thats not a farm. It's a circus over here. Teddy is the ring leader. I will be changing my handle on here to Randy the dog man hahahha. @ Dan, Thank you for proving my point ! I met and ran a trail with your lovely wife at CM. And yes I know which fuel to use. right now it still stings It was 5.29 at my last fill up.

I can’t wait to meet her! We had a healer when we lived in Olathe, CO and they were such great dogs. So smart but sometimes he couldn’t help himself and would often find himself in embarrassing situations, such as the time he jumped out of the car window that was opened a few inches, lunging on top of our neighbors Great Dane. Another time he was chasing after our other neighbors sheep that got through the fence and he chased that sheep right through the opening between a 6” cow panel fence, but he went right through the 6” square instead of the opening.

I will most likely leave Annie home this year. I met up with my wife in Buena Vista for a few days after SAS last year and Annie jumped in our car while we were loading and getting ready to leave. We had to pack the car around her and there was no way that she was getting out! She did not want to ride in the Cruiser anymore. She had been in the Cruiser for close to 800 miles up to that point and she was ready for a break.

Ill be leaving mine at home as well, even Teddy. I take care of my Mother and got her a heeler few yrs back . The dogs are now a pack and get depressed if i take Teddy away for more than a day. Teddy is a cruiser Dog 100% . He was brought up in my buggy and learnt to just walk and run next to the rig. He ran the miner loop last year in BV . we went up Hancock and ran the whole pass I let him out again after mirror lake but his paws were sore. Did you say embarrassing moments? I think it was SAS 7 I'm in the field in frt of the SAS head quarters talking with Casey. Teddy is on a leash (to his displeasure) someones golden ran over to me for some petting. Teddy wasn't having it . ahole lifted his leg and pissed on mine hahaha. ............... We are going to do the miners loop trip again this year 1st weekend that tin cup opens. we camp at mirror lake normally the high water keeps the traffic low it was 4ft when we crossed last year don;t see it being that high this year. I'll hit you up when we go its a short notice trip ussaly a week notice cause it never opens on the same date . We have a great small group . We may even overland into SAS again this year we do tin cup then to crested butte crystal mill . then the Grand mesa. to rimrocker to ridegway. the up over imogene to Ouray. took a week few years back when I did it. I was thinking of doing this pre event one year like Kurt does the swelll at CM . Its a killer trip

I wish Teddy would get to this point . He's still a crack head . He turns 5 this year so maybe that heeler magic will kick in . If im not throwing a frisbee by 630 am there is no peace in my house.

August is the runt and has always been super chill.
Especially for a heeler.

That sounds like fun to me! Let me know. I may not have my Cruiser but the 4Runner might like to get out.

Shep, the red tick that I posted above, calmed down at age 10. Ha. That picture was taken 20 years ago when he was 3-5 years old.

I remember seeing that trailer darting through the forest when I heard over the scanner the words “Ian, Ian, Ian!” it was pouring rain and nobody would roll their windows down to say hello so I kept on heading down the mountain. I felt bad that I was heading towards a place with a solid roof over our heads but it looked like you all had an amazing morning the following day.

On the way home from SAS5
Are we there yet 😂

The only rig Sassy hesitates to get into the tow rig as it's usually a 1000 mile trip one way ;)

Everyday is a great day in the mountains!

Perhaps I can visit your cabin someday, I have a loose notion of where it is.

Murphy is pleased with progress. More shakedown miles. Front brake hardline was pinched, likely from when I broke down and had to be towed into St George during Covid. So, new hard and soft lines up front. 80 box and new lines fixed the sloppy steering. AC components on order (which will be a first for me at SAS). Night/day difference in driving experience. @cjmoon @tornadoalleycruiser 👏

While cleaning the other day I found a handful of extra SAS 2 and SAS 3 grill badges, if anyone wants one come and find me at some point during the event. $40/each, these are the last ones left from the SAS 1-4 badges, so when they are gone, they are gone.

Since we're on dogs - or at least were - Cruiser is a Cruiser dog!
He will be 12 this year. Time flies.
He's rode with us everywhere, this will be his 9th year at SAS.
Beagle/Husky mix for those curious... the legs and endurance of a husky to cruise wherever his beagle nose leads...although he is slowing down some lately, he doesn't realize it and over does it quite often.

Since dogs is a current topic, what is policy for their control during the event?

Why I ask:
My bride was bitten by a dog while on its leash while under the control of its owner at a local park. The owner then ran off with the dog. Not only dodging any uncomfortable responsibility discussion, but more importantly leaving us with no information on the status of the dog's rabies shots. Clearly, it got worse for her because she had to have the full series of shots to protect herself from the possibility of rabies. Adding further insult to the injury, our insurance made a mistake in sending her to the closest hospital to get the shots but the insurance would not cover the cost of the shots at that hospital so we had a $20k out of pocket bill to cover.

Fast forward to now, she is very vigilant and frequently nearly in panic with fear when she encounters dogs on or off a leash now.

I realize that this is a responsible group that is unlikely to bring anything close to a problematic pup to such a gathering. But the trauma that she carries is real and things do not always go as planned, including beloved pampered pups, so while on the topic of dogs...

She will be attending the event with me; hence why I am asking this question.
Thanks

All I’ll say is there’s lots of dogs there. You’re right, this is a good crew of responsible people who have the wisdom to not bring a problem dog, only friendly, well behaved, well trained dogs, from what I have seen. But there’s lots of dogs. No way to avoid them.

If she saw a dog off a leash, what would she do?
