Build Rosie the 40 - Tilda Bogue Service Station

I dug this gem of a photo out of Brendan’s million year old thread on this truck.

I realized if I did not fix that roof now I would be so mad later when the rest of the 40 was so great.

I loaded it up and took it to my “side guy” painter. He’s going to fix the steel then patch the fiberglass and slap a fresh coat of White on it.

On the way back I smashed a Lou’s pork chop.

I barely made it home and did not want to say “honey I’m home” then proceed to make loud gastric noise…..

So I ran to the guest house and I was greeted by one of my outside cats that had been stuck in there since Easter Sunday.

So. Brendan’s dented truck and Lou’s highly fatty lunch saved my cats life. I almost never go in there.

I also packed up Rosie’s transfer and transmission with some future project stuff and sent it off to Valley Hybrids today

Did not get much done today. My cousin has a crew free tomorrow so I grabbed a pallet of mulch and pine straw for Red.

Then the glass guys called and the sides and lift gate were available.

Added the later model side gaskets

Then my friend from Cali showed up so we went and screwed around and drank Coors light.

Then red showed us the garden

Sides, rear support and hatch are all in place.

@Racer65 provides corner window gaskets but for a 69, you must source 70+ glass. They are a tight nice fit with the new glass

Back on this girl.

Engine bay strip and clean. Coming along nicely

This one was pretty clean already. Just took a layer of grime off and hit it with the buffer.

Laid some paint down and then started cleaning and replacing parts with some of this old OEM goodness.

Also just got word from Roark at Valley Hybrids that the Trans and Case arrived safely and he’s getting on it asap. It’s good to have a little equity out there for timely work. Most of the time I have this stuff here but we wanted to use the stuff this 40 was born with.

I think I’m about to tackle this steering box. Anyone know the proper procedure to dissect all of this properly? I actually don’t have a real paper FSM here to read up on how they say it’s done.
