Among that shelf art a few posts back, I spy one of those famous orange metal fan guillotines--you know, the ones that separate and come slicing up thru the hood. Another item probably best relegated to a shelf and resto-modded to a plastic version.

Beautiful work on those projects !

Toyota stopped making the direct bolt in plastic fans for the F motor. @cruiseroutfit has the last few stock but I’m told they are searching the Aisin world to find us a replacement. I’ve got a couple of used ones here for this truck but hopefully Kurt’s crew will have one located that works by the time I need it

I used this one from city racer on my F, no fan clutch. Works great.

Smoked some chickens for Easter lunch and was generally lazy until lunch. Son and GF showed up about 2 and we had a grown kid Easter egg hunt for money and prizes.

They retired to the den to play dopey board games so I slipped up to the shop to deal with the other redhead …

I did the center arm rebuild from Cruiser Outfitters and painted as I went.

Then I hooked up all the wires and extra grounds you need to make the Toyota Matt LEDs work. Coolerman sent me a blinker relay that was supposed to make it not flash fast but it’s still flashing fast with the LEDs. I’ll have to consult the wizard about it

That reverse light is blinding. Crazy.

Had to run my daughter all around this AM to get her Land Cruiser from 49Tire and we ate some sushi.

I got all psyched up to put the steering on the truck so I could strap it out of the shop for some pics (no driveshafts/no brakes)

About an hour into unwrapping the new steering rods I finally got to the actual rods and realized I had ordered FJ55 stuff and not FJ40 stuff.

Luckily @cruiseroutfit has a crack crew so I should have the proper parts here Wednesday or Thursday.

So I put the Pitman Arm and Dobinsons (painted) stabilizer on.

Brendon sent me some questions about some stuff and I forgot I had to fix this rubber hood pad.

These things are cooked in like a waffle when they are made so you basically have to cut one off a good one to fix a painted OE one.

Silly I know but someone had already broken this one so it worked out

Drill a couple of pilot holes. Then cut a screw down and sharpen the cut end.

Add a thin film of glue

Mate them up.

Got any tips on pulling those frames and replacing the felts and squeegee?
Keep up with bolts and where they came from. Different lengths.

Turn smoker glass all the way open

Lift frame out.

Once frame is out you can remove the glass.

Do the rubber side first then the felt side

Slide glass back in.

Lower frame onto the the glass.

Pain. In. The. Ass.

Man. I opened up a can of worms here.

These screws were non OEM and rusted to hell. None are coming off without drilling the center of the Phillips then snapping it with the bolt with the air hammer.

Damn.

Got one side done and in the paint booth and the other side is finally done and getting cleaned up for paint. This Merlot paint is a pretty damn close match to the HoneyCrisp apple red
