New bumper from @lcwizard on. Naturally I didn't do a great job spraying it. And I put some scratches in it picking dog hair out between coats...

Backed it out on the street to do some heavy cleaning underneath. PB blasted suspension, and applied fluid film in some areas. OME lift from @cruiseroutfit arriving today after being held up in customs for a while.

Be sure to paint the inside as well. The black is only primer. I love the factory white wheels, just finishing blasting a set of 60 wheels to paint. Your could have saved me some trouble but I am sure shipping would cost a bunch.

Thought, pm me a price on the wheels. I have a friend near you that is coming this way for Coal Miners in July.

Damn, I wasn't planning on painting the insides since they came black for my year. I know it's a HD primer, but people run these steelies without painting them pretty frequently. Do I really need to paint the inside? I don't want to flip the wheel and spray black and risk getting black overspray on the gray front of the wheel. Maybe I could clear coat the back if anything?

I'll PM you on the wheels. @RAGINGMATT wanted them but he's been MIA.

Ordered Razrs from SimpleTire.com. OEM steelies arriving Wednesday. Anyone want my white wagons?....

How much for the white wagons? PM me a price. I am in Tyler but I get around Houston some.

New steel wheels look great btw.

My spring perches were wallowed out from PO neglect. I ordered DOM tubing with an ID that matched the OD of the spring center pin. Cut a small piece, tack to the spring pin, paint, and install the leaf. The wallowed out holes in the perches happened to match the new OD of the center pin enough to not need any drilling.

Drives like a new truck!

@abtx4x4 @houstonfj40 Super fun day! Good seeing everyone and checking out the new additions!!!

I followed this post by @Copenhagen1 on painting my steelies. Smoke Gray seems to be the crowd favorite here. I went with Rustoleum Dark Machine Grey. It's very close but less blue in it. Getting the Razrs mounted and balanced tomorrow.

I thought smoke looked good but ended up liking the dark machine better on mine also!

First thing I did was spray the hell out of the engine bay and undercarriage with 50/50 simple green and used a power washer out in the street. It was gross and I didn't get it clean enough. Next I sourced some nice vintage TX plates and got my classic registration. Also applied lagniappe.

Where did you get your old plates from?

Some updates;

New stainless tray from Noel with StainlessTrays.com. Very high quality and sturdy product.

Old battery died in my office garage one day. Researching a new battery was overwhelming. I wanted an AGM battery and I like Interstate. I called them and ended up visiting with their lab manager Jeff who was extremely helpful. After discussing the vehicle and winching needs, I settled on an MTZ-34, which is actually not a very convenient battery to find locally. Noel adjusted the hold down hardware slightly to fit the battery dimensions better.

Truck has been a fantastic daily driver, and I took the doors off a couple weeks ago:

And the purpose of me daily driving it in this heat instead of my King Ranch is to flush out every problem I can before I take it on a trip somewhere.

I was parking in my office garage a couple weeks ago, threw the truck in reverse and everything died. I ubered home and came back with tools later. I am not a wiring person, and even a facetime call with @HemiAlex didn't get it fixed. I towed it home the next day with my FiL. No pics of that...

More digging and calls with @HemiAlex, @RAGINGMATT and the Jedi Wiring Master @Coolerman himself.

- My fusible link is aftermarket and possibly oversized and/or too long.
- Someone swapped all the fuses in the fuse block for 30A...
- My ammeter is blown

I don't exactly know the root cause yet, but the three things above are bad and there was some major wire damage right behind the ammeter which cut power to my ignition. @Coolerman suggested starting with opening up the harness just beyond the ammeter following the white and white/blue 10 ga wires to see if they had a meltdown anywhere else and damaged any of the smaller wires. If I am lucky, all the damage will be near the ammeter and I can splice in new wiring from him and bypass the ammeter. If I am unlucky, I will end up pulling the entire harness, laying it out in my study and really digging in. Wish me luck.
