Looking at whats next on my 96 FZJ. As best I can tell, my options for rear bumpers goes 1-4X4 labs, 2-IPOR, 3-Slee....and then in no particular order- Hanna, 4X, Kaymar, ARB and DeMello. Anybody that I should consider? Spare Tire swing on DS.

Thinking I want something that does not require a cutting out of the Factory Cross Member. Thoughts? Much appreciated.

Home built.. Where are you located?

I have not seen these other bumpers in person. However, I do have a 4x4 labs sitting out in my garage right now and you would be extremely hard pressed to build something that was as nice as it is. The quality and thought that is put into it is obvious right away, it is also aesthetically pleasing do to the fact they roll the rear metal, use giant punches to make the drain holes, and form the wings out of one piece of steel that has been taken over a break multiple times.

I have the IPOR w/ dual swing outs (spare tire and ladder). I have the one w/ the wings on each side and I also had them cap the lower end of the bumper it was a tip from another mud member (worked out nicely as well). I love the bumper, I am in Raleigh so I drove up to their shop to pick it up. Not sure where you are located because that may play into your decision. All the bumpers you have listed are great products...

Really appreciate this. Located near Portland OR.

Just finished painting my 4x4labs. I think you know what I recommend.

Does 4x4labs offer those elevated tire and gas can holders?

^^ Jose's truck has a tail!

We're plans or a cut-out blueprint of the rear wings that ceased production a while back ever shared?

Those were kinda custom builds. I made the tire carrier myself and took his ladder/gas can and made a few tweaks to it.

I would go with the 4x4labs rear. It is fairly lightweight and is very strong and rigid. Yes you do have to cut the rear crossmember as well as about 3-4" off the frame but it is worth it in the end... with that said if you don't want to cut the rear crossmember, i would go with the IPOR. It is made out of 1/4" so it is super heavy, but VERY strong.

Ive read twice now about availability issues with IPOR but have not confirmed. Might wanna page the boys in VA to check.

I've had the IPOR and the 4x4 labs. The clearance on the labs is great but I beat the snot out of my ipor for six years with nothing more than missing powdercoating but bent my 4x4 labs in two places on the first trip :( so its high clearance but when it makes contact not quite as robust as the ipor. As panda mentions it comes at the price of a few more pounds. The flat surfaces of the IPOR are also handy accessing/washing roof or rack.

Slee is a very nice unit. They all are actually so if you don't want to cut the frame then chose which one you think aesthetically compliments your build (edit. Sorry booger....your bolt on thread :D ) and have at it.

The 4x4 labs wins hands down around here. Locals have done several group buys with no regrets/resells. John
