Hello
Do I go with stock color on my resto mod or no?
I have 1/73 fj40 that I have been restoring. I have added lift, disk brakes, mini truck power steering, rebuilt original motor with stock 3 speed. I'm having a mental battle with myself on choosing a color. I really need some opinions here. I really need a push one way or the other.

Well seeing that it is a restomod I'd go with the color you like best. It's not bone stock and unless you plan on selling it shouldn't matter a whole lot. Just don't go crazy like that pink one or I think there was a purple one. I've seen plenty of restomods in non-stock colors that look really good.

Thanks for the input. I don't plan on selling at all. I would like to be able to keep in the family when I'm long gone. I was leaning towards a green or blue color just not stock colors. Just don't want to make a big mistake.

I actually like the olive but the wife says she doesn't want to drive around in baby cacka. So that color was out. Also liked the paint job the guys from SEMA 2016 did to there 40. Really cool rusty brown color, which is kind of ironic, since I just spent months getting rid of rust. Haha

Dune beige, all the way!

Funny that you say that! I've had my eye on another one. Haha

They seem to multiply by themselves. Color was the hardest decision for me to make. We chose to stay with the stock Rustic Green. Good luck with your decision, the chassis looks great.

I would go for a factory fj40 color. They are always in style-timeless. Some of the early fj40 colors are really cool too and aren't done very often and overlooked. Another thing that might be cool is some sort of stripe or something like some were offered with. I did a stripe on mine with a stock blue and Im pretty happy with it. Personally I think the dune tan color is being done a awful lot of 40s these days. A green or blue would be cool I think personally.

I am in the same boat as you as color is concerned. I am thinking a dark green or capri blue.

It looks like you have done a really nice restoration. Congrats on the job well done. Personally, I would try and stay with something very close to a factory color. I like a lot of the factory colors. Green, Dune, Blue. I went with 653 Olive. Some of the olive rigs really look green or baby turd. The 653 I chose was more brown than green. I am sure it will look great, whichever color you choose!
