Third weekend of October there’s a huge craft fair called, “War Eagle“ in Arkansas...it’s a BLAST 💥
I’ll meet ya there, we’ll have brats instead. 😆

Another vet flag case built, this one is cherry, I like the pin knots feature. Splines are hard maple.

This guy was an amazing dude, father of a close friend. Served in the Seabees in WW2, then came home and joined the fire service. Made his way up to Deputy Chief for the city of Dover NH, where he served for many years. Finally passed at 96 years young.

RIP Spike.

Great job on the case. Looks fantastic!

96.....That is a great run and probably a life well lived.

What a great man.

Are the splines what gives the case structure? Very nice.

The splines strengthen the glued miter joints. I've also done them with floating hidden tenons (Dominoes), but I think the splines look better and are a nice accent on the joints.

I really like making these, thinking of starting a side gig of selling them, but don't want to deal with crap like Etsy or whatever.

I'd go around and talk to the local VFW and American Legion Posts and talk to them about offering them for sale.

Running, driving, and finally after probably 40 years - stopping. I've been fighting this thing off and on for two years. Craziest booster/master cylinder ever. $300 rebuild kit with no instructions other than a bad pic from the shop manual and updated parts that don't match the pic. No wonder they want $600 for a rebuilt unit.

What a beauty!

Finally solving my hardware and small parts crisis I have going on in my shop, both of my big tool boxes has misc junk in them. Nothing I want to get rid of but it will be nice to get it all out, organized and in its own little spot. I was able to find a really nice storage cabinet on Facebook, believe it to have come out of a gov building. All the drawers have the same cubby system.

🤩 ....a literal TREASURE TROVE !
1732461569668.gif

Where a guy can dig FREELY, and unobstructed !
A tinge of excitement comes with “revisiting” every single piece hoarded, realizing fully it’s unique goodness !

But most of all, escaping the misery of puttin’ things away ! Do you realize the therapy & magic that takes place here ? EUREKA !!!!!

Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.... you came down to the EXACT decision that every GREAT hoarder makes,
which is made up of 4 powerful words of persuasion:

“I might need this ! 🤩
OR...”It’s still good !” It has value,.. is another !

Even though some mature hoarders DO move into phase II, where,..when “cleaning” (Eewww ! such a horrid 💭 thought ! ) one merely “organizes” his treasure trove, (really just movin’ stuff around a bit..) all the while resisting throwing away ANYTHING.

Remember you’d already previously made a “calculated decision” of keeping it... at ALL COST.
Besides you couldn’t live with yourself if you pitched it haphazardly then find out that NOW you NEED IT just a few days later 🤣 !

Besides that, think of the tremendous amount of guilt you’ll suffer if you have to go out and BUY another one !

Keep your chin up friend you’re unique, afterall... you belong to the Brotherhood of HOARDER’s 👍🏻 !

Always wanted to try one of those knife kits that I see at Woodcraft/Rockler, where you buy the steel ready for handles (scales) to be installed. Decided to give the cheeze knife kit a try, for some Christmas gifts. Pretty happy how they came out, especially since this is my first time doing this.

Woods left -> right are Bloodwood, curly hard maple (2), Brazilian rosewood, Morado, and Black Walnut

Finish is also something I thought I'd try: CA adhesive (Superglue). You quickly wipe on a couple of thin coats, then sand back to wood with 800-grit. Then I applied 6 more thin coats (it dries in seconds), and sanded with 800, 1000, and 3000 grit paper. Then a quick buff with a cotton wheel.

Started my son's kitchen spice rack for college.
Proof of concept, still needs mounting points and will have loops mounted on bottom to it can be added to with another same module with hooks on top...!

Those look great @DRANGED

For those of us with less skills, you can use bar speed rails. They come in lots of sizes with prices all over the map. I mounted 6 of these 30" long ones in our pantry and they freed up a ton of shelf space. They are at the lower end of the price range but the quality is very good. We have had no issues whatsoever with them. You can store spices, liquids, etc in them.

I finished up the lamp I have been fabricating. It is mostly made from scrap air-cooled Volkswagen parts. The base is a pressure plate from a clutch with a swing axle transmission side gear to house the switch. Two engine cylinders make up the body of the lamp with tubes spacing them apart. Then I added a piece of perforated sheet to the top and the cloth cord, illuminated push button switch, light socket, LED filament bulb, and wiring.

That’s a cool lamp. Is it a push button, to turn it on?
