Day 99

After the color and clear had a day or so to harden I again taped everything off. I laid two coats of Upol Raptor for the undercoat, floor and firewall. The Upol Raptor bed liner is great. It laid down extremely consistent and looks amazing.

AWESOME!!!

Great work.

Also, I agree with the Raptor liner. It is great stuff. I used the tintable version for inside my tub, and I am extremely happy with it.

Have fun putting it back together!

Cheers!

That color looks really good! Silver or Gun Metal grey are about the only colors I would even consider on my Cruiser other than a factory Dune Beige, mostly kust cuz the wife isn't to keen on the beige and I am a big fan of the two on other rigs...

Can't wait to see a pic of it in the light of day!

Day 100a

Part 1

I wanted a small body lift that was safe and looked factory to give me a little more clearance for my transfer case. I looked every where and really could find anything that I liked. I found out that Energy Suspension sells all there parts separately through a third party. After a little research and creativity I came up with a satisfactory lift idea. I managed to gain an extra 0.5 – 0.75 inches of lift and kept a semi factory look.

Beautiful build.

Holy tailpipes, they look good but.....

From my experience, if you are going to do any trail riding you will bend or crush the tail pipes. They need to terminate @ the crossmember.

very nice

sweet build ... hows that UPOL RAPTOR .. is it really rough? i know its supposed to be kinda anti-skid.. looks great

Where did you buy the energy suspension parts???? I am needing some one off pieces, as my kit was missing some pieces. THANKS in advance.

I need to say this again. What an awesome build. Really enjoy watching it.

I am amazed, impressed, stunned, inspired and jealous all at the same time.

I have a 1981 FJ40 sitting in the garage still waiting to get the newer 2F sitting right next to it transplanted into it. It's been like that for 5 years.

I am somewhat sad to say that I'll never have the time, space or skill that you have to do work like this. simply amazing man. What a great job.

Very nice!!! Gives me hope for whats to come on my own. I like the color you went with!

Thanks again for the all encouragement!

@ pd4ugo, thanks for the heads up on the tail pipes. Don’t worry my rear bumper design will definitely take care of protecting those pipes. You are going to have to wait a month or so until it’s completed to see it.

@ 77TPIFJ, the raptor is a pretty smooth texture. You definitely can place your bare knee down and it won’t scrape it and it’s kind of anti slick at the same time. So far I’m most impressed with it.

@ 2fpower, I ordered everything from Dave at Suspension Restoration Parts Co. If you need any help with the part numbers let me know. I’ll be happy to help.
