the truck died when trying to start it 2 days ago...it was a good time to start biking in to work any way. :frown:

i wasnt getting a click or anything from the starter...had lights and elecrtrical...fuseable link was ok ... the amp meter did fluctuate a slight amount when turning the key...so i knew something was going on...put test light on both batteries and they seemed strong...so...next logical step...starter.

i check to make sure the starter ignition wire was sending power...and it was...so step 2

pulled out the starter and bench tested and it worked fine...cleaned electrical conections and put it back

pulled the batteries out ...went to advance auto (neighbors kid works there he's a past student as well) the one battery excide battery was bad (spiral cell with a bad cell) and the interstate (optima) was good but showed 0 cca?

I had another optima to go in that i never put in yet...and both my batteries are very old...well over 12 years for each...kinda thought the interstate would go bad 1st...oh well...I'll need to give the old interstate a good charge...reinstaled everything...went very easy...untill....

i tryed to start it...it would crank...but...no startie.

after a good time geting anoyed i found i didnt install the electronic ignition ground back up

started right up :D

Epic build! Great to see what can be done when in such short time - truly awesome!

Thanks for the kind words...time is something I have very little of...so i got to work quick :D

What lift and or shackles do you have on this truck with those 255/85s?

it has 4" skyjacker softride springs and confer rear shackles...it used to be much higher...however the springs have MANY miles on them and have saged over the past 15? years or so ...so its probably more like a 3 - 3 1/2" lift now...where as it was about a 5" total life when 1st done.

The 255/85r16's are a 33" tall tire ...FYI for those that may not have known

had an interesting issue with the truck...

been hearing a clunking sound over bump...i checked over the back of the truck ...checked barn doors for slop, tire carrier for slop and checked over the body mounts...all looked good.

then i knoticed that it went away if i was braking

crawled under and knoticed what the problem was ...the pass side rear caliper (disc conversion) was clunking around...the pin holes (GM Caliper) were oval

the other side looked great...old...but great

replaced the caliper

I was trying to remember when i replaced the rear calipers...i dont think I had...fronts yes...rears maybe original to the conversion :hhmm:

havent done anything to the cruiser for the past 2 months...just racking up the miles :D

Merry Christmas everyone

made a christmas tree forest with the kids to give out as presents...turns out the forest was right next to a famous town ...you had to go down into the hardwood floor valley and make your way up Mt.Buffetable...and ...there was Bethlehem :D

Merry Christmas :)

BTW when the trees fell in the forest...i didn't even hear a noise :meh:

Just read your whole thread. Nice work, time for me to start on the bj60... 460 000km of salt, snow and mud does wonders on these body's.

Just wanted to start off by appoligizing to those who have outstanding PM's with me. Been swamped and tryed to get to all of them...however due to the 1K PM limit...i deleted off alot...If I had not responded to ya...please feel free to PM back...my PM totals are reasonable now :)

I am in the middle of an adoption (china) and are a week out from travel...tying up loose ends here and booking for our in-china stuff. It's time consuming and draining....however there is a little special needs chinese child named Maggie waiting for us to pick her up.

We had looked into many different option for adoption...many contries and local and US odoptions as well...this was the best fit for us for so many reasons.

We have looked into adopting again after our 1st adoption...well over a year ago...everything was put on hold when my wife had come down sick and after many months of doctor visits finally niped it and she has been fine for past 4 months or so...we prayed...we saved...we talked...we came to the same conclusion....we went full steam ahead.

I look foward to travel
I look foward to the adventure
I look foward to seeing how things have changed since we were there 7 years ago
I look foward to the connection my wife and I will make with our 1st adopted daughter who is also traveling with us
but...
nothing compares to how we look foward to seeing Maggie

I have missed being on Mud and have missed talking to my cruiser family...I have been on here and there and peeked in so to speak :)

If your the praying sort...as we are...keep us in your prayers....it's a LONG flight :)

Congratulations! And, good luck! We adopted my daughter (also special needs) a little over 5 years ago. One of the best things I ever did! We spent 18 days in China. A week in Guangzhou, another week in Beijing, and then back to Guangzhou for a few more days. Traveling around China with a toddler my wife and I couldn't communicate with was a challenge. But, looking back on it, I wouldn't change it for the world! Have fun and take lots of pictures!

x2 great pics...we hope to see the great wall while in Beijing...we will be in Beijing for a few days and then zhengzhou for 4-5 days and a week in Guangzhou.

we spent all 2 weeks in Guangzhou our last adoption...we hope to find our last guide as well when we go down there...would be great for Juliet to meet him since she last saw him at 18 months old.

I need to get up to tykes and see about a front bench seat...we are maxed out right now in seating :)

been contimplating putting the small side seats in the back and moving the bench further back...kinda like a u shaped seat in the rear...i got to think about it

Good ole bench up front, and forward facing bench in the back, and you've got good seating for 6 :steer:

yeah the 1st order of buisness would be getting a bench for up front...there was a non-usa seat for sale recently that would have bolted right up...however not recent enough...i think it sold as the op hasn't pm'd me back

may need to see what tyke has...most from what i remember would need to be recovered and modified to mount in my cruiser as mine came with buckets factory.

on a side note..picked up an Ipod and going to get skype with it to communicate to usa when i go over to china next week.

got hit with the "Final Packet" from the agency yesterday...I am working on 3 hours of sleep :meh: ...it was a long night of getting things together to go..I hope i dont fall asleep during my lessons today

that would be really bad if a lesson even puts the teacher to sleep

I knew it!!! :lol::lol::lol:

lol, I had a couple of teachers, way back when, that would just drone the whole living world to sleep, and I always figured they were also asleep, and just repeating it all in their sleep... "Bueller, Bueller Bueller"
