Has anyone tried 44412-60430 (5th gen 4Runner) or 44412-60280 (100 series) instead of the 44412-28160 (Previa) low pressure return hose? Not sure how long the Previa hose will be around…

This is an interesting question. Got any photos of the hoses?

I've just ordered return hoses from macmaster carr, wits end is out of stock and it seems hard to source his hose by foot.

For people that have replaced their low pressure hoses with the Wits End Conti hoses, what clamps did you use for the smaller diameter hose?

Joey said it's fine to use original OEM hose clamps on the larger diameter hose.

Did you get ahold of him recently? :giggle:

I'm just finishing up this project. One note is that 3/8" oil hose fits VERY tight on the metal cooler lines. I tried gates (napa) and carquest (advanced auto) brands I was able to make it work, but next time I'll probably just pony up the dollars for the OEM hoses. I tried to find 7/16" oil hose but could not at my local parts stores.

I also noticed a chipped tooth on the gear - unsure if it was already chipped or I did it it during transfer process to new pump.. We shall see if it makes noise. I stuck it in a press to make sure it's seated and I torqued to spec.

Nice work - I wrestled the gates lines and that job was no joke.

Are oem lines still available do you know?

Yes

In my experience, yes that chipped gear will make noise. Joey used to sell a composite wrench to grip a replacement gear while installing it. If you do decide to replace the gear, be sure to grip it with rubber vice jaws or something non-metallic.

A nicked or chipped gear will absolutely make you think the truck has a rod knock.
Even the smallest defect is enough to make a foul-sounding noise.

I think the gear is still available new, or at least it was when I last did this. Honestly getting a new gear isn't a bad idea in any case since it can be a lot of faffing to move it over.

Yes, the gear is still available. As long as gear removal is not ham-fisted gear damage is unlikely.
If you want to go with a new gear, do remember to get a new woodruff key and shaft nut as well.
