Hey thanks for posting again! By far my favorite 80 on here. I could sure enjoy some more pics of that truck on the trail.

Windows that jump the track:

Time for some actual tech updates. This truck rattles a good bit. For whatever reason, the black door panels seem to vibrate at a resident frequency that acts like a driving frequency and makes everything rattle more. For whatever reason, the drivers window repeatedly kept jumping out of the window track. I got pretty good at taking the whole door apart, and getting the window back into the track in a parking lot with just a 10 mm wrench, a Phillips screwdriver and a pair of pliers in under 10 minutes.

I broke down and bought a new window regulator, window cranks, and window run.

The day that I had all the window stuff, @Unoman stopped by in his new 60, which rocks.

Working together we quickly got the new window run in place, and the new regulator in place. It now cranks like greased lightning. I also found used gray armrests on eBay- p/n 74210-89106.

The truck has now 1% more gray interior and 100% less jammed windows.

This thing is a beast! Loved seeing it out on the trails at Roundup. 80 goals for sure.

@KennyBob: I love this thing. I’ve driven it every damn day since buying it. My 62 just sits lonely and unloved (sniff).

Can’t wait for the next adventure.

Man, I needed it too.

what tires (size) are you running?

Yeah, I also got new shoes. I tried Cooper ST Maxx’s for the first time. They are 285/70 R17’s. They are a GREAT tire. Quiet on the road, good on wet roads and in the mud so far. I may be a convert over from BFG.

I figured out what to do with the old retreads that were on it. The boys have been rolling around inside them for weeks. There’s a pretty good hill on the new property that runs down across the creek. So far they have not rolled it down the hill into that....YET.

Does anyone know the part number for those hilux steelies? I really like them. Wonder if they clear the brakes on a 96 :hmm:

Page two of this thread he posts a close-up pic of the stampings on the rims.

This truck has later axles, I think out of a 96 or 97. The rims clear all four wheels without spacers.

@joekatana had one more set when I got this rig from him. Ping him and see.

Sold the last set to another Mud member , I did ask my European suppliers if they could get me a few more sets but am still waiting on that.

Looks like fun @bottombracket, glad you got to take the 80 on a trip already. I finally got to take mine on a nice adventure in April (took 4 years to slowly get her up to speed, and free time from the family). Wow, one can really appreciate these vehicles when they are commissioned to Land Cruise ha? Free to range in their natural habitat...

I was able to score some 17s for my wanna-be poverty packin’ 80. You inspired me. Now all I need is a 5sp diesel power train and some vinyl flooring lol
