How much of the Outer Banks beaches are open to 4x4 useage? What are the crowds like and are there areas that are less well frequented?

It would be a little closer to me than Colorado for a summer trip.

There is quite a bit of 4x4 spots. More than I thought there would be. I passed at least 4 or 5 areas where I saw vehicle off road when we were going south.

Crowds are more in the northern area near kitty hawk and kill devil hills. Corolla and Duck are really nice areas. With Hatteras and Ocracoke being really out there. I liked it all. Camping was everywhere. Pea Island to Buxton was desolate. So if you like those kinds of places that's where I would go. Some areas are only a 100 yards wide. We had very little traffic south of Nags head where it turns into two lanes.

Thanks for the information on the Outer Banks. It sure looks like it was a great time.

no I have to get the one I got from mike shortened.

By the way I owe him money. Can you get me an address so I can send it to him. Wasn't there some kind of deal with David? I'm clueless and you can quote me on that. :D

Here's where it gets confusing:

You Owe Mike Money.
Mike owes Alan Money.
You Pay Alan.
Alan takes the $80 that Mike owes him from your payment.
Alan refunds the remaining balance to Mike.
I come up next month for my annual 4th of July visit.
I bring Mike's remaining money back to him on my return to Florida. (Less a handling fee, of course.)

Sweet. I'm pumped. Heading down next wednesday, through Raleigh, Goldsboro, Havelock and staying on Cedar Island. THen catching the ferry out to Okrakoke for a day. Portsmouth island the next. Drum inlet in the skiff for a little fishing, then back to reality. Wish i could stay all summer. I'm so stoked.

you know, I just realize now that your rig is the rig I got the idea from about the rubber fender extension I did on my cut fenders (using rivets and an old floor mat). I saw a photo of yours early last year and made my own.

Hey Trollhole, nice pics! I'm thinking I'm going to have to round the g/f and dogs and hed out to some Washington beaches now! Have fun!

Thanks. I'm going back to the same house in 5 weeks. Cannot wait! If anyone is out there then give me a hollar. I'm probably going to be cruiserless. But that has never stopped me drinking beer.

I am thinking a beach UC ride if you have access to that house...the Avocado needs the ocean and horses! :)

Pimp forth coming

8 bedrooms, sleeps 20, 6 bathrooms, heated pool, 15 man hot tub, kitchen is a mirror of it's self, two of everything, 2 master suites, private vollyball court, private basketball court, ping pong, and packman, and a kitchen that has two of everything, in a gated section, and about 5 min from 4x4 access. They added a built in grill, sink, ice maker, and fridge by the pool this year.

I think a UC trip would be fun. I'll work on that for next year.

I'm definitely up for that, I love the beach and I love dune carving. Count me in, just give good long notice.

I lived in or near the Rub al Khali for four years. That's the Empty Quarter of Arabia for the few of you who may not know Arabic. I had the camp record for distance air in a Hilux in Abu Dhabi. In Saudi I had a Suzuki TS400 enduro bike. Spent about equal time flying it and digging sand out of my orifices.

Not that I would do anything wild in Bonnie, just love the salt air. I've been trying to promote an OBX run with the NC wheelers but so far nothing has developed.
