The light was not on constantly. It came on briefly and then went off and stayed off. Another time a couple of days later it did the same thing. I'm pretty convinced it's a level sensor. I still would like to know for sure.

Yup... and: yikesI’d say that looks like the oil level sensor:
Yuck. I'm sure you did this already, but clean that thing off. All that oil in the connector will cause all sorts of problems. Hopefully the oil did not wick too far up into the harness.This is the sensor connector on my oil pan. (don't know what the orphaned plug hanging there is)

Late to the party here. Recently purchased my first land cruiser ('95 KZJ78) and first diesel powered vehicle and have been trying to find an explanation as to what was "normal" for oil pressure. What manual is the above picture from?The section of the cluster-meter for oil is the oil pressure. People always ask if their oil pressure being low is bad at idle, I'm sure you've seen the posts.

The separate light in question is for oil level as I understand it. It should only come on briefly when you first turn the key on. I would check the dipstick first to confirm and go from there.
