I noticed the lower B pillars that Living In The Past noted...along with missing the windshield latches...Hmmm...went back to look at the pics some more...what are the chances the tub was changed for a '63 or '64 tub?

Yeah, it's that it has a 1962 VIN but the tub doesn't look 1962.

The boy does not match a 62 like noted above, but who knows. I have a 61 sold in 62, it now has a cigarette lighter in the same place as later years, once I was told it was not factory I can now see the hole was well cut, but the notch part was not as well cut as the others. I have the original bolt latches, but came with the parts like yours, I will likely switch my windshield latches. I like to have the windshield down a lot, so the quick handle is a lot more appealing then getting a wrench out. Point is people could have put a new body on it in the last 50 years, as well as modified it. Even the pillars could have been nicely modified to fit a later hard top at one point.

Super nice rig no matter what, can't wait to see a lot more pics.

Here's some other shots. It's definitely a GM motor.....The trans shifter comes off the side of the trans...

That original steering mount looks hacked on and twisted (?)

Way cool rig!!

Do you know anything about the history of the truck?

Splib I grew up in Vacaville and Winters about 32 miles from Sacto. Are you from around there? Thinking about going back one day. My sister lives in Bella Vista near Redding.

No, west side of Stanislaus County. I did live in Arcata for 7 years and would drive thru Redding sometimes....nice area. This valley air sucks big time.

Man I've looked the world over for that FD pull knob. Anyone have one there willing to part with?

Lemme go look.

If I read the firewall tag correctly, it reads 3FJ4019104, that would indeed make it a 1963 model...I'm guessing it was made spring of 1963.

Did you check to see if the frame number matches this vin number?

PS...I know the pain of looking for old parts...I am still looking for a the whole FD knob and assembly...

I got lucky and found the correct FD knob for my 1962. That is the stock steering box mount, can't tell if it is tweaked or not. Good luck on finding a stock steering box for that. I have a hacked up on in the garage, worked fine but the tube part was cut off. I picked up a steering box with all the column shift parts from a later model late 60's I think, got the mount with it, took off the old one and mounted the new one. Only a few people could tell the difference. The old one was like a clamp to hold it with the 2 bolts, later one used 4 bolts and a mounting plate.

Look in the classified here and post in the wanted sections, lots of people with late 60's and early 70's swap to power steering and have nothing to do with these old boxes, but you would need to secure the mounting bracket with it.

If you 100% want to go back to a stock early early 60's box you can have the one below for cost of shipping. You can see where the tube part is is welded up for some reason, but it was tight when I had it in there, but I would strongly recommend finding the later style with the 4 bolts and the mount for the frame.
