.. In my eyes I am much more likely to get hit by some crazy person driving along at 80mph while trying to text than have a failure of my single circuit system.
Bigger chance for that.
To drive a vintage car/truck means driving more defensive than the other do and requires driving with more foresight..
...back to the resto JP please ;)
Cheers
Peter

Just go dual circuit... No one is going to look under the hood and care that you went for a safer brake system over being 100% original....

That is the thing I am not worried about some one else critiquing my use of a dual circuit master in my resto..... rather it would personally drive me nuts every time I looked under the hood. As I have long dreamed of restoring one of these back to how it rolled off the showroom floor in 1964 and a dual circuit would look very much out of place in my eye.

Anyways didn't mean to start a single vs. dual circuit debate. I do appreciate everyones concerns and input, but lets put this one to rest for now and get back to the resto.

My delievery should be arriving from Eastwood today with all my paint and rust prevention.... so I will have a shiney new frame for everyone to look at on Sunday

JP safe? Never! That's the way the Mafia rolls. Just look at his avatar. He wheels that 40 with no roll cage. Last time I rode with him I couldn't even get the seatbelt to work. He told me he wasn't changing it because that was the way it came from the factory.

Don't change JP. I like you all original.

Jp something to think about I have the front axle caps, bolts washers everything to convert the front axle back to full time 4 wheel drive and you can lose those ugly hubs Thanks what was on a 66 ball an claw axle I picked up Let me know

Yeah Rob that sounds great.... I was going to pull the ones off my 40 to use on the LV but if you got a set that you don't need I will take them as well! I want to run the factory "acorn" hubcaps I have and there is no way I would cut a hole through them to run hubs :o

Yes it is true that I may take some risks that others would not from time to time, but I like to think of them as calculated risks

Another vote for the RUN IT. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your help with the exhaust bracket:cheers:

Here are a few pics. I will get over and take the door handle off when I get back

some progress

Had a meeting that ended early this afternoon so pops and I were able to get home with plenty of day light left and do a little wrenching before the sun went down:beer:

Got the frame completely stripped down and removed if from the axles/springs. Did some general wire brushing and scraping in preparation for sand blasting on Sunday. Also spent a fair amount of time with a torch, BFH, and pry bar trying trying to straighten out the years worth bumps and bruises in the frame..... it is amazing what you can accomplish with some brute force and red hot metal :grinpimp: More to come on Sunday.

Frame is finished

Time for a quick update......

Sunday turned into a 14 hour marathon of sand blasting, cutting, welding, BFHing, and finally some painting. Turned out the frame needed a little more massaging and tweaking than I had originally anticipated but we were able to get it into a respectable shape

I am short on words to day, so time for pics........

Turns out sand blasting isn't as fun as it looks.

but it does make things look new.

Even pops took a turn at blasting, although it was brief :hillbilly:

Finally as the sun was setting we got to lay the first coat of primer/ rust encapsulator.

Another couple of hours and we had 3 coats laid.

Then with the fear of dew in the morning we used our best ghetto engineering to erect a multi tarp tensile structure for protection :hillbilly:

nice job... lookes great!!

didnt all that sand below effect the painting process?

The sand thankfully wasn't an issue..... the real problem was with temps in the 80's here this past weekend was the return of flys and they seem to love the smell of fresh paint:bang: So there are a few bugs imbedded in the paint, but this is just the frame and it soon will be underneath the body never to be seen again;)

I have the same prblem here in AZ. Spray some paint and a bunch of nats start flying around it. Messin' it up.
