JP I think you need to cut the sleeves off. It would certainly fit in a lot better here in the south.

I think the long sleeve was all part of Rob's cruel plan :o


On a side note I left the camera at home but had some cell phone pics to show some of the work yesterday.....

my first t-case rebuild, it was so much easier than I anticipated.

well it turns out I did not take near as many pics as I thought a had....... also it is hard to believe we put in two full days worth of work and all we have to show for it is a few painted parts and a rebuilt t-case. This restoration work seems to take double to triple the time I think it will on every little project :bang:


I wish we had a fancy paint both like I've seen in some of the other build threads here on Mud, but unfortunately we don't and are on tight budget for this build, so good ole red-neck engineering wins out again :grinpimp:

but the good thing about summer in the south is there isn't a breeze to be found thus our paint actually came out nice with no dirt, bugs, or debris being blown around :beer:

We put a good 4-5 hours between the two of us just cleaning and preping the t-case and trans. for paint. It was amazing how much gunk had built up on the them through the years..... but we did finally get them cleaned and painted. We went with the same Easwood gloss black engine paint on the trans. and used a generic silver on the t-case. In the end I think they both came out nice:beer:

Thanks for the kind words...... I know this isn't nearly as technical and structured as most builds on MUD but I hope most find our style of restoration atleast a little entertaining and amusing :hillbilly:

We Have Success!!!

Well we took a big step in the right direction last night and got the engine mated back to the chassis:bounce::bounce2: We still have alot of reassembling to do on the engine, but it sure felt good to get her back to her home!

You're making great progress. Not sure if it matters to you, but you should have packed the knuckle with grey moly grease as opposed to the pink high temp wheel bearing stuff you put in there.

Not sure. But I would run the proper grease because you are running drive flanges and your birfs will be spinning all the time. I have to believe the Toyota engineers had a reason to run moly in there. Most auto CV shafts also are packed with moly.

Nah, as long as you use high temp. I run the same stuff in my lexus. better to just not tell anyone... huge debate from a bunch of people that haven't tested. Just like flat towing an 80 :). Go with it.
