I'm sure you're on it, but you should really replace that front timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket and rear main while you have the motor out. You will kick yourself later if you don't -

Tucker

Thanks Tucker!! I am def. going to do all of those.... I had debated the timing cover just because it is a PITA, but as you said I know it will come back to haunt me later.

Anyone got any good tips for removing the crank shaft nut/pulley? Unlike the last one I did on my old '77 this one isn't a nut holding on the crank pully rather a solid unit.......

Hey ya go Brother :bounce: everything for the front drivers side door handles, axle caps and bolts, ignition / key. I know there going to a great project. I have givin alot of thought as to what I would have to charge you for these rare and hard to find parts :hmm: I know you have explained to your Dad that building these Cruiser we sometimes have to make a sacrifice in order to make our dream come alive. So here the deal pay for shipping and promise me 9 pictures ( of my choice ) 3 of you working on the LV, 3 of your Dad working on the LV, 1 each driving the LV and when its completed a picture of the both of you standing together.

WHOOOOA!!! WHOOOOA!!!...... you know I have a reputation to maintain!! Sure you wouldn't just prefer some COLD HARD CASH???

I mean lets be reasonable here this is the kind of thing that could get me banned from family reunions, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners not to mention total forfeit of any inheritance that was headed my way:eek:

I mean talk about being between a rock and hard place... do I spite my generations of Clemson legacy to keep this a true purist restoration or do I maintain my dignity and just find some suitable parts off a jeep that will do the trick:confused:

I think I am going to have to sleep on this one:hillbilly:

At least it's not a Gamecocks shirt........

With near perfect weather here on Sunday pops and I decided to forego hard manual labor in favor or a relaxing day on the water fishing for some large mouth bass on a family pond. We were well rewarded for our efforts.......

first pic is for perspective; the small bass was about 1lb in size the other is a little bigger :grinpimp:

weighed a little over 12lbs

pops was grinning from ear to ear the rest of the day.... we let the old girl go to figured it would be a shame to keep her.

Just got off work I will try to get everything boxed up and mailed today by tommorow for sure, also look at it this way while your wearing it you can cut, grind, clean parts, pour gear oil on it I expect it to get thrashed. Good Times

You need to use a puller:

Note this is from a '62 manual w/o the harmonic balancer (liked the pic with the install and removal), it works exactly the same with it ;)

This is a great thread. Nothing like a family affair. I'm looking forward to starting the exact same work on my FJ55 a little later this summer. I'm in Atlanta and would love to come by and see the project at some point. Going to subscribe to your thread as well. Great work - keep it up! Can't wait to see that LV running again.

I was real relaxed untill I hooked that 12 pounder!!!! Jp helped me land her...team work just like on the LV  Wearing the shirts sounds like a great deal! I don't mind wearing a USC "Trojan" shirt...could not wear a usc "shamecocks" shirt...Thanks for the parts. I have been amazed at everyone's generosity and help during our build and look forward to returning the favor:clap:
