I got package in the mail from City Racer today! After seeing @Delancy's nice upgrade to euro mirrors, I wanted to do the same. The OEM mirrors are fine if you're not planning of much highway driving, but I am. The Euro mirrors are designed so much better, its no comparison between the two.

@Racer65 has great service and fast shipping and a nice instruction pdf download... Thank you!

X2^^ perfect match!!

Poor Onyx!! Gunner and Chester sit in my Tundra, parked across the garage door, while I work on 44. That way Gunner can sleep between Chester's barking fits.

Do you live in a meat processing facility or a hospital? :flipoff2:

Damn good looking Cruiser, Riley.

The triple blades set it off...........as appreciation for sparking new topic amongst the voices in my head, and with feminine twist ('cause women can ALWAYS find flaw in the object of their own envy) I'll point out the one flaw. :)

Covers are still available.

Bahahahahahahaha.

Very nice!!

(edited: yea, I see the overspray. No, I had nothing to with, but there's plans to correct. Hahaha)

LOL.... Thanks D! I always welcome input! Good to know the covers are still available... I will pick some up!

Someone had to pee on the garage floor......Bahahaha.

I'm just giving you a hard time, man. Love it and the triple blades do a lot more than I ever thought they would.....now I've got to put out of my mind.....ha.

It's been a while since I visited thread, guess longer than I thought, because I was floored with how it turned out. Looks killer and the attention to detail is over the top.

Nice work!!

Went back to catch up and saw a post that I quoted on mine, since historical, which is important to me, at least. Thanks!!

I have a spare linkage ready for another conversion when you're ready!

Thanks for the nice comments Chris, I'm glad you went through and reread it! I enjoy looking at old pictures of past cruisers too. I might have larger versions of those if you'd like them.

I'll take any and everything you have and willing to send.

Spent several hours today, tooling around in the 40 with the original D, a rare opportunity and his first viewing of a portion of the hoard, since folks live in Houston and old man rarely makes it this way. At 75, couple of bypasses, a pig valve and with no need for income, still puts in 45-50 at the office, only recently stopping to smell the roses.

He asked, no only about generals, but history....where she came from, who owned, if I knew them, so on......and I realized where I got the bug for historical value of all things.

He tells stories of Model As he bought a day's drive away, still recalling the names of sellers, their kitchen table setting, down to the "damn seeds in the blackberry jelly", all occurring in the mid to late 60s...and all as if I've NEVER heard them before.

Love to bore my kids, to death, with similar, because I know how much they'll appreciate the time later in life, so all content is appreciated.

Apologies for derailment. Hahaha.
Why I try to maintain my own train wreck threads.

My first post on this form. I can only say this, I feel like I woke up in the middle of a dream and saw this FJ. I've benn wanting a 79 for quite some time after having a small block equipped one in the late 80's early 90's. I put nearly 300k miles on my 2001 Tundra with the 2UZ and I've kept thinking that a 4.7 in a FJ would be great. It looks like you have mastered most of the challenges and I'm most impressed with your craftsmanship and attention to detail.

I've got an opportunity to pick up a fairly clean 79 FJ40 and I'm thinking you have blazed the trail for my future project. Bravo and awesome job!

Job well done! I love the iForce badge on the grille. This rig is a work of art!

Outstanding build Riley:clap::clap::clap:

How are those air lockers working for you? Very nice good to see it out of the garage. And out in the dirt.

Wow. I just finished going through every page. Amazing. I love that you ditched the Chevy V8 for a 2UZ and did something not to many people have.

I bet Icon Fj40 owners would be a bit jealous after seeing yours.

Thank you for your comments! I love the 4.7. I drove it all day yesterday and am glad I made the decision. I had it up to 65 on the freeway yesterday and RPMs in 5th gear were around 1900.

Thank you! I like the badges too. I'm sure some don't though. I went to the dealer yesterday and one of the sales guys came up and asked if it really had a V8. I said "yep, listen", then I hopped in, started it, and drove off. It was great.

Outstanding build Riley:clap::clap::clap:

Thank you

Sure is handsome Riley!!

Thanks Danny

Haven't really (had to) use them yet. But, they engage and disengage great. The compressor gets my air tank up to 150psi in about 30 seconds and holds pressure there. I will probably end up using the on board air more than anything.

beautiful truck.....

Thank you sir

That's a beautiful rig Riley... amazingly nice. What tire carrier are you using??? Any rear pictures from farther away?

It is a 4+ tire carrier. I love it! I will get you a few more shots from farther away.

Wow. I just finished going through every page. Amazing. I love that you ditched the Chevy V8 for a 2UX and did something not to many people have.

I bet Icon Fj40 owners would be a bit jealous after seeing yours.

Thank you! No way I was keeping the Chevy engine. It was either the 2UZ or go back to some sort of 2F or 3FE with turbo.

The ICONs are great. They're probably better sorted out than mine because they make so many of them so they're a bit more streamlined. I'll put more miles on mine and see how it holds up as far as reliability and driveablity. So far, pretty good though, just a few more small things to get going like cruise control, etc.

I did get the 79 I was refering too. I'm currently installing a 2 post lift, heat and air conditioning in the shop in preparation for the journey. I'm so inspired by your efforts Riley. Bravo! I'll be in touch at some point i'm sure. Sorry for the Hijack.
