That’s good to know. Thanks! We always used pintle hitches in the Military and honestly didn’t know there was a 416 w/ a 2” ball available. But have always used a pintle system for more rigorous towing and off-road use. It does give me piece of mind that the 2” ball was able to take the abuse. The T@G weighs in at about 1200lb plus whatever gear we load.
@fireball uses a lock and roll type hitch with poly bushings and I think he's happy with it.
I use the pintle hitch on my m416 and am surprised at how little noise it makes when banging around the woods.

Installed the Metaltech rear receiver today. Bolts up perfectly and keeps everything tucked as high as possible while still being funtional.
The clips for the rear valence are a PIA to get at but will release. There are 2 locates at the top and 2 at the bottom sides.

The rear bumper skin needs to come off. Doesn’t take much effort to remove it.

Installed new and trimmed a little bit of plastic to get the skin to fit snug.

Finished product. I could have done a better job trimming but patience is not one of my virtues! I’m pleased with the fit and functionality. It’s a fraction of the price of Toyota OEM and carries the same rating. 7 pin harness was already in place so I’m ready to tow.

Ordered the REDARC Tow-Pro Elite to finally get my electric brakes operational. Nice little unit that packs a punch and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Ordered the Toyota/Lexus factory harness so other than finding a place for the button, the rest is plug and play.

Excuse the curious pup...

Wanted to place in the only blank that is available but the is a piece of metal behind it so my simple plan was shot to sh!t in the first 5 minutes.
Pulled the lower panel as I wanted to go the easy route.

The factory plug is centrally located just below the steering column

Since the blank was a useless location it turned into this.

Ended up mounted it here.

Very simple setup.
Push the button to manually override when needed. Adjust the dial for proportional mode. A double click feature puts it into user controlled mode which is suited for off-road use. You are then able to dial in exactly what you want and instantaneous feedback to the E-Brakes on the trailer.

I’ll mount the main control unit under the dash in the morning and tidy up the wiring.

I like!

Haven’t updated since buying the trailer. Thought I’d add a few pics of the setup.
It’s a ‘19 Boondock Edge XL (6’ wide). Solar package with VictronConnect controller, gas, water, shore power hookups, outdoor shower, AC, TV, Bluetooth stereo, Norcold fridge/ freezer, sink, microwave, Dometic 2 burner gas stove, exterior LEDs, Yakima rack and awning. Been using a little Heater Buddy to heat it for now.

That's pretty sweet Jody! Got any big trips planned?

Thanks! We do, hoping to hit some National Forests here on the East Coast this year and then some extended trips out west next year. Bought it with intent of getting away and having the convenience of camping almost anywhere with little effort. Hoping to get up to Bald Eagle for a weekend or two for a shakedown cruise. Lots of dispersed camping up there to take advantage of.

We all are continually looking at ways to improve the rigs whether it be big or small. Came across a set of Wheelers off-road front superbumps at a good price so why not! I’ll give them a go as I think they will be helpful for both on and off-road performance. Especially when the Discos are disconnected.

I am really surprised you felt the need for brake assist with such a small trailer.
Those trailers come from the factory w/ electric brakes installed. Some states require brakes on anything over 1,000 lbs so they assemble all with brakes. We tow other trailers as well so I installed the brake controller just to have it. If they weren't already setup for it, I'd wouldn't have worried about it but it was a good excuse to upgrade my controller!

I knew that would be coming home with you, nice grab!
Thanks! I have an almost complete suspension sitting on a rack in the garage so we a bit of a head start.
BTW. Disabled all traction control nannies on the BMW and did some hardcore drifting yesterday. Ferris Bueller style, what a blast. Hard to total a car twice!
The GX and the 6MT share the T-3 Torsen center diff so that’s pretty cool as well.

Not much to update these days other than maintenance stuff.
Replaced my cracked key fob w/ an AJT Designs. Fit and finish is good and it didn’t break the bank

Secondly have had Christmas tree lights for awhile P0158 (O2 circuit High Voltage Bank 2, Sensor 2) and P02197 (Oxygen A/F sensor stuck lean, Bank 2, Sensor 1). Bit the bullet and ordered both Denso’s for air/ Fuel and O2. If you’re not in the know, don’t order OEM from the dealer... difference is hundreds $$$ and they are both the same.
Replaced those, cleared the ECU and all is right in ‘Yoda land again.

The passenger air/ fuel takes a little to get into. I monkeyed with it for awhile and found this was the easiest route. Short arm syndrome so I ended up lifting the passenger side, pulling the tire, removing the dust shield and unplugged it via that route. I still used a crow foot and breaker bar to loosen it from the bottom but much easier to get at and unplug and unscrew once loose from the fender well! Pic below for reference.

Lastly finished my very late spring cleaning and waxing for the season.

Next up are the brakes. Time for new rotors and pads.

We’ve taken the trailer out as much as possible as well but have been busy with kids stuff so not much in the last month. It’s definitely easy to hook-up, tow and setup once at your destination. Maybe a few minutes to level and done.
Solar has worked great IMO. Bought a small inverter as a backup but really haven’t needed it yet as the solar keeps the battery topped off.
A few shots from our last couple of trips. Heading down to TN at the end of the month and hope to find some decent dispersed camping in The Great Smokey Mountain NF! Hence all of the maintenance.

The rack is in. A day late and a dollar short but I’m sure I’ll get lots of use out of it. I ended up buying the Rhino-Rack JA8057 Pioneer Platform system which uses the factory rails w/ the Rhino CBX backbone. Not as cool as the full backbone but is the right length and width for my use and after install, I’m quite happy with it.
The overall is 49”X 60” and installation is fairly simple:
-remove the rear plastic covers on the OE rack
-slide the OE rails off the rear.
-measure and attach the new rails to the bottom of the platform pioneer system
-attach to existing roof and done.
Haven’t noticed a discernible difference in noise IMO. 99.9% of the time I have music playing so that takes care of any unwanted noise!
And I’m now sitting at approximately 82” from the ground to the top of the rack. That’s w/ my 3” lift and 285s.
