Freakin awesome man.

At work my security protocols prevented the pics but here at home I can see them just fine.:D

That is a damn nice addition to any truck.

Course I already got 45 gallons of petrol sitting there so no dice for me.:whoops:

Very very cool man. I like yer style!:cheers::cheers:

Yup, well done you finished it off nice.

Can you post up some more pics of the underside? Curious how close you got to the floor crossmember, or if you just cut through it? And the LSPV comment from above is a valid one, did you relocate that or is it still in place?

That is very cool! That is a perfect place for all the stuff one needs to carry but hopefully doesn't use very often....IE Fluids, parts, misc... Outstanding job, I like the way you think!

Thanks for all the great comments.

Nakman, the LSPV is still in place, the arm that should end on the axle is now resting on the upper control arm. It was rusted in two inside the rubber under the PV so I used the lower part up there and relocated the lower end. Now I quess the brakes are set on max braking.

I pobably will finish the rust proofing tomorrow evening, I will try to shoot som pics from under there.

There are 30 mm to the next front and rear crossmembers and 30 mm to the frame on both sides.

Romer, I wish I had the opertunity to use the cruiser to cross some borders. Then I would definetly give "the smugglers dream" a try ;)

Ahh man, major buzz kill, and I did not think of that! Can't you at least drive into a "dry county" or something with a bottle of hooch just to say that you did?!? :D :flipoff2: :D

I like the idea of insulating it and adding a drain and using it as a cooler. You could wheel all day and arrive in camp, unload the back of the truck, and crack open a cool one. Need to make some nice baffle/dividers to allow for longnecks to survive long bumpy trips! :)

Not that you would get caught but adding cargo capacity and hidden storage compartments is illegal in some states. I know it is illegal in Florida as they are concerned folks would use stuff like this for drugs. Not sure what the fine would be or if anyone actually cares if there isn't drugs or guns in the compartments.

I have no reason to doubt that this is a fact, but this is just plain stupid. Do they think that someone with the drug smuggling mindset will say "Hey, I have to stop smuggling drugs because it is against the law to build a compartment in my truck to hide them, and gosh, I just can't leave them out in the open, can I?"

Yah, kinda like outlawing guns to keep the criminals from using them.

haffi,

Excellent solution to the expedition sapce problem. I have built false floors for expeditions but your solution makes mine look amature. I really like what you have done.

Very nice mode, nice write up. My uncles Range Rover has a huge hole in the cargo area like that, that is once he removed the spare tire and jack kit. I was just talking to him yesterday, wishes my cruiser had the same cargo space.

I've thought of doing this many times. I keep coming back to the fact that whatever I put in there I'd need immediately in a stop. And unloading a packed truck on the side of the road is a PITA. I've even thought of using it for the spare tire. The advantage would be is your spare wouldn't get banged up and it would stay clean.

Ugh! I am SO embarrassed to admit this! :o

Watching a rerun of "CSI: Miami" within just the last couple of nights...David Caruso ("Horatio") tells the drug-smuggling-via-boat perp "did you know it's illegal in Florida to have a secret compartment in your boat or automobile?"

Honest!

Ugh!

Unclean! Unclean! I need to change the oil in my truck or something! :D

This mod probably doesn't qualify as 'secret'. I imagine if you tried to disguise it you might have some trouble.

That is funny! I see that show once in awhile. I prefer the original. The only reason I know is a friend of mine bought a pair of Mercedes when we were in high school from Florida. It turns out they were drug running cars. The FBI seized them. It was a huge headache for him. Another guy I know bought a yacht that was in Florida used for running drugs in the hull. They chopped the whole hull up. He reconstructed it.

After packing my rig tonight I realize that I really really could use that extra space right now. It would be just about the amount I need. Instead I'm probably going to end up putting the roofrack on and sucking down more precious fuel.

Nice job dude. Guess I need to get rid of my aux gas tank so that I make room for more storage........NOT!

Damn thats a great idea. The finished product looks perfrct.

Fantastic work.

Here are few pics from the underside. Taken today while having some fluids changed.

Not the best pics in the world but can give you some ideas about the underside.
