Nice remachined and clean flywheel is ready to roll.

I've got a line on a couple Tcases.

Today I picked up a @beno supplied OEM rear main at 49 Tire.

I'm going to offer it up initially as a whole truck. It needs floor pans but I happen to have that exact part on another partial tub.

I'd love to see it survive whole.

Pm me what you might need
Would it happen to have the original door weatherstrippings? I am hunting for samples to make reproductions, as '73-'74 door WS is NLA.

I've got a similar tear in my driver seat but all others are good. I'm planning on asking around local upholstery shops when I get some time to see if it could be repaired. I figure a black cover would be easy to match or a new section would blend well.

I enjoy reading your progress on this one like the others. Good luck on tcase search. I think a guy had a pretty big parts stash in Mobile he was parting out on craigslist, might be worth a look, I need to get on and look.

I'll look.

I think I have mine of Nolan doesn't. I'll check at my shop and let you know. Doors are off and waiting to be redone before next spring.

Great work on this. love seeing the progress. you can tell yours is a labor of love.

It helps that I have just built a similar 40 and a 55 so I know kinda what I'm doing and where to get the parts.

It really helps that the owner is willing to spend money to make it right.

I bought a 2F with tranny and transfer. I asked if they worked ...shifted

Yep.

Well they were frozen solid. Both the tranny and Tcase.

Ugh.

@gwalt584 contacted me and let me know he has a good combo so I'm going to head down and pick it up tomorrow

I got to piddle with it a couple hours today.

Rear main is swapped. So glad I pulled it. The spring was not even in the seal.

Pulled the pilot bearing too.

I'd like your opinion on the headlights...like your detailed opinion.

I'm 50/50 on the looks and happy with the Round Eyes that LePage put on Purdy...but I live out in the woods with lots of deer...and need reading glasses.

Let me know if the juice is worth the squeeze.

I've got stark bulbs in my Roundeye housings and they are awesome but there is really no high beam. Low is as bright as the high. Can't tell when they come on.

I put KC housings in the Parts-o-Pig project with Stark bulbs and that was about $140

I'm hoping these will offer some high beams not just a lot of light like Stark.

I'll let you know this weekend

I got the clutch installed this am, and a new master, slave and clutch flexible hose. That part went smoothly.

I cleaned up all the parts and installed a beautiful used jump seat I was able to pick up locally. (still need a second one)

The new tranny/transfer setup I got is very clean inside. Shifts great.

Turns out the shifter setup is different and the new shifter hits the tub. We tried to get it in the truck with no luck. Had to drop it back out.

Below is the 74 setup

IMG_0557-X2.jpg

We tried to get the 74 to fit on this later transfer but the shift fork was gummed up and it would not shift smooth enough so we are going back with the later shifter and Ill deal with clearancing the tub

I got the external of the new case and transfer all scrapped and clean enough to make me happy.

This is the look on my face when I found out we had to take it all out and try again.....thanks @pmccraney for the psycho shot

IMG_0562-X2.jpg

Tomorrow I'll try it again........

7 hours. Whipped.

My whipped day was yesterday... tore out the rear end of the 74... completely. Drums out for rebuild, axles and 3rd member out, leaf springs out. Making room for the new springs and shocks. Good thing I decided to go ahead and install a spartan locker... one of the spider gears had a few chucks missing. New bearing and seals cimjg next week as well.
Pics of crap in the axle housing and the naked ass end.

Really like see your progress... again, motivational

Removed the lift gate from the donor 72 this am and will replace the handle with a New Old Stock one that @Racer65 sold me.

I'm stoked all of the hardware is here for the OEM struts. They even work.

Today was a good day.

I had an epic morning and headed home to hammer on the Cruiser. My friend Lou was coming out to help me stab the tranny after 3:30 but I wanted to take a shot at it before he got there on fresh muscles and a fresh steady spot on the tranny jack.

Sure enough, it snicked right in after about 30 minutes of careful solo adjustments with the tranny jack. So awesome. What a great feeling.

After I got the transmission in I decided to get the interior in. This is a LOT of work and I am damn glad I had not done this before I found out it needed a transfer case replacement.

Everything has to come out to get the tranny hump in except the fuel tank and that is a close call. I got it in and installed the Tuffy Console before I put the drivers seat in. It is a tight fit but it really really is a superb upgrade for an arm rest and one place that is secure in a vehicle with no real locks.

I really like the fit of the @Cruiser Corps mats front and rear. Nice job guys.

New OEM shift boots from @beno

So happy to see this all back together......

Lou showed up and took over the job of placing the OEM handle in the lift gate while I buttoned up the interior.

IMG_0601-X2.jpg

Had to tap one bolt for the shocks to hold it up, but everything bolted up nicely with this donor lift gate from the parts 40 I bought

IMG_0600-X2.jpg

Also added a new interior light with LED bulb
